So I get an email today saying my invoice for eBay is $150. What is this? This is 10% of all the money I received from selling items on eBay. I'm never using eBay again.

As a new seller, you need to do some serious investigation regarding your financial obligations on ebay. Below is a link to the basic fees you can expect to pay. Sorry you were taken by surprise, and good luck as you move forward.

This is a joke posting... right?
Are you truly saying you didn't read anything at all about selling on eBay's site and were completely oblivious to the fact that eBay charges selling fees? You thought you could come online and use somebody elses business site to sell your stuff, and you wouldn't owe them anything for that? Well, lucky for you... it's a ton cheaper than selling through an auction house or on Amazon or many other possible places.
But if you truly don't want world-wide exposure for items you want to sell, and aren't willing to pay a percentage if a site brings you a buyer, perhaps you might want to do your local Craigslist or a little poster tacked to the bulletin boards around your town.

Yes, eBay charges fees, so yes you will have to pay the invoice amount. If you do not pay, your account will be suspended and if you should open a new account, that one too will be off-limits until the amount due is paid.
For that amount, you had some good sales, so just pay up or risk suspension.

"this" is the Final Value Fee that ALL sellers are charged after a successful sale on eBay...which was displayed for you to read at the time of listing.
Sorry to hear you will never be "using eBay again".
Should you choose to sell elsewhere I encourage you to study the Policies & Fees prior to doing so.

You sell these things for deer hunting, do you?
I don't understand why everyone thinks it's perfectly okay to sell gun paraphernalia, scopes and such, tactical combat knives designed to be used on people (not for carving turkey, not hunting and fishing), or anything else that can kill a person
on ebay.
I know this won't make me popular, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

More people are killed in auto accidents than anything else , should we ban selling them altogether ?
Just bacause these things can be used that way does not mean they will be used that way .

Here you go: https://pages.ebay.com/help/account/closing-account.html
Be aware that the process takes 180 days of no selling or buying before the account can be closed.

10% would be nice.
And I just noticed today that the top rated seller discount doesn't include the fees on shipping.
Here's the percentage I pay every month.
Fees as a percentage of your sales
This month's eBay sales and fees
Total monthly sales
$665.66
Total monthly fees
15.39%
Based on your monthly fees and credits totaling $102.45, your fees as percentage of your sales is 15.39%

Lately those too have been used for mass murder. Unfortunately we cannot ban them and that is a very weak excuse anyway.

Because it is "perfectly okay" to sell those things on ebay.
