New managed payment

So today I went to purchase an item I purchase regularly. When I tried to pay with my usual one click, it said the seller now used managed payments and wanted me to pay with a credit card. No Paypal. I simply hit the back button. I wonder how many sales the seller has lost using managed payments? Why no PayPal option? Ebay can't simply after all these years of insisting on PayPal now switch to credit cards with no PayPal option to wean us off PayPal.

I have not yet run into a seller who uses managed payments, but when I do I will also hit the back button.

As for the 2019 rollout of PayPal in mahaged payments ... well, they promised us aTurbo Lister replacement two years ago and it hasn't happened yet.

Re: New managed payment

Paypal will not be coming as long as ebay can tie up your money for 4 days. As sells drop, the only way for them to increase profits is to steal more from the sellers who are getting sales now. As stocks have been devalued, buyers are not coming like they use to.

Unfortunately, ebay has thrown all of their efforts in becoming Chinesebay, that's why Manage payments is designed for overseas buyers not US consumers.

Rest assured this is hardly the only mistake that has been made along the way.

Re: New managed payment

I opted into Managed Payments without realizing that Paypal was not included.

My sales were really slow prior to opting into MP, and so far, I've had 30 transactions using MP.

Today was my first sale with a Cancellation request because the buyer wanted to pay with Paypal.  OK.  I accepted her Cancellation request.  No biggie.

No seller will have PayPal when "managed payments" is fully implemented.

It as stated, is expected to once again be available for buyers summer 2019, but is gone with the wind for sellers in managed payments.

No, not at all.  For sellers in MP, options for paying are CC or bank account (and others, now or later, including PayPal) that many already have associated with their eBay accounts.  When you go to checkout, you choose one of those.  Buyers and sellers will never see the word "Adyen" except here on the discussion boards.  Adyen is invisible to buyer and sellers, same as if you buy something at Walmart and many other places, either online or in person.  I am happy that Adyen will be managing payments becaue they are a million times more competent to do so than eBay is.  eBay's only part in this is to distribute payments to sellers.   Hopefully eBay will do that one little thing properly.

So does that mean that Adyen will be issuing the 1099s or will eBay be in charge of that as well? Wonder how that will shake out this year with the sellers who opted into Managed Payments for part of the year?  If they are under the limit for PayPal and under the limit for Managed Payments I guess they won't get any documents? But their combined income might be over the limit that requires 1099? A friend who got invited but didn't opt in asked me this question and I have not seen any info on how the 1099 would be handled.

Re: New managed payment

At risk of stating the obvious, I'm guessing that PayPal isn't offered initially for this eBay Managed Payments system because eBay wants to put pressure on PayPal.  That is, eBay wants PayPal to share the wealth, as the saying goes.

By delaying the addition of PayPal to Managed Payments, it'll be likely that PayPal will be looking to get quickly back on the list of accepted payments, and thus be more open to pay for that right.

Not too evil a plan, eh?
