New format on ads again ???

Why do we have some ads coming up with a link to "See full item description" that opens a new page?

I find it a little annoying to have to click another link to see full details about an item not to mention those that are using ebay for the first time. It's to easy for people to miss important information about an item in my eyes. They did this a few years ago but it did not last long.

It would be like looking at an ad in the paper then needing to go to a new page to see the rest of the info about a sale item.

The eBay full-screen format is not compatible with mobile devices. Also, some components of the listing's content may not be secure, such as images hosted off-site.

While I don't like it any more than anyone else, almost every big site I go to does the same thing..........Amazon, WM, Home Depot to name a few.........

But do they open up the description in a separate window that is spread out all across a huge computer monitor with formatting that looks like the first website I built?

With WM I get a "read more" which opens up the rest of the description on the same page and it has formatting. These eBay listings in a new page are just horrible looking. If this is going to be the normal for listings then eBay really needs to rethink the look of that page it opens up in.  Might look fine on everyone's sillyphones but looks horrible on my  computer.

I have the same thing happen on my computer as well, not just the mobile. Not sure why.

Yes, when I look at my own listings on my computer, I see the truncated version -- although a couple of listings using the same template actually show ip in normal fashion.

Evidently, eBay wants to protect users from "non-secure" components so they provide a 2-step option.  Otherwise, eBay would block access entirely!

In my case, I embed images within the description, cited by http:// . . . .  All I have to do is revise the citations to https:// . . . .  I have confirmed security with FreeYellow; I just have to update the citations.  I am also adding the necessary HTML to specify the 800-character text I want to display -- rather than the mish-mash of phrases that eBay arbitarily selects.

When I view other eBay listings, I rarely see the truncated version.  Generally, this is because other sellers don't embed images and their descriptions are so brief that no further reduction is required.  Unfortunately, most of these listings also lack Item Specifics, condition details and decent photos.  Hence, back button!
