New ebay shipping boxes vs. old ebay shipping boxes.

I just received my first batch of new ebay shipping boxes, the ones with the black print instead of the old ones with the blue print.

I'm not sure of anyone else has already covered this, but i just wanted to let everyone know that these new boxes are noticeably thinner than the old boxes.

Same price.

PRO: Less weight.

CON: Weaker.

I had them weighing the same. 1.9 or 2.0 oz

I had a similar situation with the latest batch of 6"x4"x4" (non-eBay) boxes that I had to get from a new supplier after my last one quit eBay. They were indeed noticeably thinner (very much like the current #04 USPS Priority Mail and similar boxes), but I don't find them to be significantly weaker. Of course, I glue the flaps with a bit of Elmer's Glue in addition to the usual flap taping, so my packages come out like rigid little bricks anyway. Smiley Happy

The "less weight" advantage for me was the key factor on why I'm going to buy more of these: one of my more common shipments went from an average weight of 8.3 ounces down to 7.8 instead, putting me into the next-lower pricing increment for First Class Package , and saving me the better half of a buck per package as a result. I was very happy about that.

Yep. same here.

Flimsy as hell and not even cut/folded/glued right.

The "free'  coupons are rapidly becoming worthless.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Did you happen to weigh one of the old boxes vs the new boxes?

You are saying it as if blue boxes were.

I have not seen them yet, but I've seen posts exactly like this one - when eBay went from white to blue boxes.

Yes, the new are 1.4 ounces; the old were a bit under 2.0. There's been no other change to my packaging method or the item going in it; the weight reduction was solely due to the (unexpected) decrease in weight of this latest batch of boxes (from a new supplier).

The old corrugated boxes were about 1/8" thick; these new ones measure up as a little over half that (still corrugated, just thinner).

Money saver for sure with the steep rise in the 1st Class realm.

There's a new size though, which it just a little over 1" wider but that's exactly how wide I need.  So that's a good thing.

Also, less jibberjabber on it.
