Hey guys, since the eBay dupe listing scanner everyone was using has stopped working, I figured I would share the new one. https://dupescanners.com/
It works similarly to the old one, but looks a bit better. Scans every listing for matching titles and outputs anything that seems to be a dupe with a confidence rating.

Somehow the link broke on my original post for some reason and I can't edit the post. I'm going to pin this answer to the top. Here's the fixed hyperlink:

It doesn't do a good job, Amazonite and Obsidian aren't even close...
I have many titles that are very similar and indexed with roman numerals. Those are much closer than what it came up with (two similar examples in 10,000 listings).

That is interesting. I wonder if it's the difference in material (Amazonite v Obsidian) or the simple change in word, i.e., letter order, judged to comprise 19.1% of the title, that lowered the confidence rate.
ETA: And whether the difference in photo weighs into that 19.1%.

It came up with two items that might be the same, the one I posted the photo of, and another with two items that were close, but not so... The other example was Qatar 10 Riyals 2017 and opposed to Qatar 10 Riyals 2022.
I would think this would be more likely to be a duplicate:
Isle of Man 1 Crown 1992 - Siamese Cat - aUNC - i
Isle of Man 1 Crown 1992 - Siamese Cat - aUNC - ii
Isle of Man 1 Crown 1992 - Siamese Cat - aUNC - iii
They are there different listings, but it is the same item in all three listings. It didn't give any examples like that, and I have dozens of items that are that similar. In my store "you get the one in the photo", so that's why there are three listings for similar things, there might be faults or minor differences, so I photograph every single coin and don't do quantities unless it's the exact same condition (like mint coins coming out of an uncirculated set).

Note that your example shows only an 80% match. That's a pretty low confidence rating (actually as low as it will go), although it can likely be adjusted to only show results that are an 85-90% match in the future . These scanners are only looking at the item titles so if your listings have similar titles, it's going to show you what it found.

Ah I appreciate the heads up on that. The way the app was set up, it looks like it didn't have proper pagination logic so it wasn't looking through every listing on larger inventory accounts. I also modified it to only show listings with a confidence rating of 90% or higher, since 80% seems to be a bit too loose.
As a side note, please feel free to suggest any changes that might make this tool better. I personally used the old scanner all the time so I was bummed to see that it stopped working earlier this year. The goal is not to just replicate that scanner, but to make it better.

I'm going to pin this as "Best Answer" just so that I could provide updates. Please feel free to suggest any features as the goal is to make this as useful for everyone as possible.
12/1/25 - added a "slider" feature that let's you select between 80% to 100% confidence rating on which items appear similar. 80% seems a bit too loose as it shows too many results, and 100% may be too strict. I like 90% which seems like a sweet spot, but you may change it as needed.

Didn't realize that I couldn't edit the pinned answer again to provide ongoing updates. But I updated the tool today to drastically increase the speed that it performs searches. So it should function much quicker now.

That's Great information, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO POST THIS, most Sellers on here are truly part off a eBay Family. Hopefully with all my CAPS just now everyone will pin it and use it. duplicate listings for some reason are a problem eBays swears its not them so something we are all doing is causing it and as you said they seem to have stopped picking them up. Guess any Defect that they can post on your account that allows them to charge you more is exactly what they are wanting to do. thanks Again!!

I tried it and someone else's listings came up altogether...

@le-5262 - I had that happen to me at first while testing, and I realized that eBay's searching system specifically requires that you use the exact username rather than what you may have named your store after account creation. This is an eBay limitation which I double checked by using eBay's own advanced search option. Otherwise eBay's search function doesn't see a match and just displays what it thinks are close matches. And make sure you are not taking the name from your ebay.com/str URL
So for example, according to your profile, your username is le-5262 but your store is named Kim's Whatnots n Whimsies and your store URL is ebay(dot)com/str/le5262. You want to search your username le-5262 and it'll correctly show your results. Give it a whirl and let me know if you still have any issues!

Is your scanner not working tonight? I just get an empty tab.

I was doing more updates to it earlier so you might've tried accessing it while I had it down for that but it should be good now. I'm also hosting it on one of the cheaper tiers because I didn't want to put too much money into this unless it got a ton of traffic. In theory it should still run fine with a large amount of concurrent users but that's harder for me to test until I can get a better idea of how much traffic it's getting over time.

Nice work man. Glad to see this.
