I've been shopping on Ebay for 23 years. I have been an avid seller for 9. I'm noticing new search engine issues. I called Ebay and the rep started to tell me why my search method is wrong and how to work around it.
I use the app on my Iphone. While logged in (and I do this daily) on the search page, I type for example: seller:will_do starbucks" to find an item of mine. This search feature no longer works. I have now tried searching several items. If I use a few words, the item does not come up in the results. If I search every possible work I know would be in the title, it comes up.
Why do I do this? I walk around my inventory in my home and add or edit listings accordingly. The rep said I should do my search while logged out. So....then I would have to log out to search and log in to edit for each item.
This completely interrupts my daily Ebay listing work.
Ebay, fix your search engine. It used to work.

It's not just Ebay. I believe almost every shopping site on the internet does it that way. There are programs out there that watches your cookies and it remembers everything you view. From there it gives you things that relate with what you view. By logging out it does not know you and will give you all results. The workaround would be to change the default (best match) to ending soonest, lowest first etc.

I used Facebook Messenger and the rep told me the search engine on the app "is not going to continue to suit your needs".
OMG
I was able to get a phone rep to hear me that the search engine isn't working correctly like it has, dependably for YEARS and years. I'm hoping this is a glitch and not intentional programming. I sent them screen shots to help illustrate what isn't working correctly.
The search engine is by far the most important part of Ebay.
