So I have been Selling for a quite a few years and this is a New One.
I recently sold a ~~ $1000 item.
Sent it throught FedEx Fully insured and Direct Signature Required.
The shipment went to the state /city it was intended to, after it reaches there it is rerouted to a different state and city.
By the time I saw the tracking, it was already delivered.
I called FedEx and I was shocked, how can they do it ?
So When i call them and asked them what happened and why, FedEx tells me that it was at the request of the sender, and I told them I am the sender, so FedEx tell me it was rerouted by Ebay and they said he even has a case number.
I called ebay first thing in the morning and ebay tells me that they see no request made by the buyer and they have no Idea whats going on.
Paypal just opened the case and they are reviewing the case
Someone on the inside is involved in this scam, trying to rip sellers off
I am on the phone with paypal and they have put me on an indefinite hold!!
Any insights!!

Well, you know ebay - anything for the buyer. I don't doubt for a minute that if a buyer calls ebay and requests a reroute on a package that they would do it.
And isn't the Nate from ebay the 'ship_like_a_pro' account?

Yes DK that is Nate from shipping & I would think if someone is pulling a scam using Nate's name someone from the ebay staff should be contacting Fedex & dealing with this scam & the others.
Noting the Fedex account or something to make no changes from anyone with this name.
How would anyone but the buyer and seller have the tracking number? is it an inside Fedex issue ?
I would think if an ebay employees name is being used to pull off scams ebay would be all over this
@Anonymous
Why can't this be looked at again & addressed ?
this is alarming to say the least

That's why I asked if anyone knew what ebay puts in the reference fields for the fed ex label - if it's the item number, then you can track by that and get the tracking number.

@berserkerplanet
You deal with Fedex alot do you know what ebay puts in the reference fields

>>You deal with Fedex alot do you know what ebay puts in the reference fields
The Ref field on the label is a 12 digit number, Don't know what it is, but could be the eBay FedEx account number (maybe with some further digits to record some other ebay data - my FedEx account numbers are both 9 digit but are 10+ year old accounts)
The PO field on the label is the eBay item number, and is whatever the seller chooses to print there via the "Print SKU/Order Number on the label" checkbox/field in the eBay label flow (prefilled with eBay item number by default)
There are some other numeric fields on the labels (both eBay and FedEx.com generated) that don't correlate with anything I can find.

@labs118I can't find the threads-they are on the shipping boards but I tagged trinton and he says nobody at ebay is involved and its basically a non-issue. He knows more than we do so.....I expect the response is still the same.

Odd. One would think eBay would be concerned simply because that it appears someone is impersonating an eBay employee and causing harm...

All fed ex account number are 9 digits. There is also a 7 digit ground shipper number that is tied to the meter and account.
If you shipped anything via fed ex lately, try the track by reference and enter the item # in.

non =-issue for eBay maybe, but not for the sellers getting scammed.
I agree. I Just want to clarify—when I said non-issue, I meant that the impression I got after the blues responded on the other thread, is that someone calling FedEx and pretending to be an eBay employee is not an issue. I had said maybe eBay needs to contact FedEx and lock their account down somehow and the response was that everything is fine. I got the impression they didn’t think it was necessary to do anything on ebays end.

Thanks for sharing the challenge. I am Nate Heyward, and do work at eBay, but certainly have not been requesting package re-routes. I will work with FedEx on this example and the others in posts linked to this thread. Our eBay FedEx account, of which I am the account owner, is not supposed to allow package re-routes, so will work with FedEx to make sure this gets addressed asap.
