So I have been Selling for a quite a few years and this is a New One.
I recently sold a ~~ $1000 item.
Sent it throught FedEx Fully insured and Direct Signature Required.
The shipment went to the state /city it was intended to, after it reaches there it is rerouted to a different state and city.
By the time I saw the tracking, it was already delivered.
I called FedEx and I was shocked, how can they do it ?
So When i call them and asked them what happened and why, FedEx tells me that it was at the request of the sender, and I told them I am the sender, so FedEx tell me it was rerouted by Ebay and they said he even has a case number.
I called ebay first thing in the morning and ebay tells me that they see no request made by the buyer and they have no Idea whats going on.
Paypal just opened the case and they are reviewing the case
Someone on the inside is involved in this scam, trying to rip sellers off
I am on the phone with paypal and they have put me on an indefinite hold!!
Any insights!!

Is it insured with FedEx?
I just googled FedEx's website, and it said that only a Sender can reroute a package.
I assume no claim has been filed against yet from the buyer?
Take this one step at a time,
keep us updated.

This is a service that carriers now provide where someone who has moved or is temporarily living somewhere else can have their mail rerouted.
Are you sure the buyer did not request this?

"...I told them I am the sender, so FedEx tell me it was rerouted by Ebay and they said he even has a case number."

eBay doesn't do this. Don't focus on eBay. Focus on FedEx.
You have a case number.
I don't use FedEx.
Other boardies here, do. And they can help you in this matter.

What kind of case- item not received or unauthorized transaction?
Here's another thread about this where the case was ruled in favor of the seller under PayPal protection. https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Possible-INR-coming-my-way-FedEx-redirect-Scam/m-p/28221783
And another with USPS. https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/The-hits-keep-coming-Package-diverted-by-buyer/m-p/28300760

This is not new, and people have posted about it before.
Did the buyer at all arrange shipping? Did you provide the buyer with your sending address or any information they could use to reroute your package?
I work part time for a technology outfit, and we get FedEx packages from the US all the time. Frequently the sender routes to our PO box (the street address location of it), and I, the recipient, call to have it rerouted to our office. No one questions this. I provide tracking, tell them where it's address to, and where I want it to go. It's been a while since I did this, so I can't recall if I also provided sender's information (or how much of it was provided).
The first advise I can give, is not to provide the recipient with your details, because when they call and pretend to be the sender, they will fail when they can't say the address the package was picked up at. When I called, I told them I was the recipient. They still rerouted my packages.
Cheers, C.

That's what they publish, but I rerouted 3 packages last year from my PO Box address to our office. Mind you, it's only 10 miles away... seems a little more suspect to send something to a different state.

To the best of my knowledge, proof of sending to the correct Paypal Address is all you are required to provide to win (and Paypal will refund the cardholder from their kitty). This should be easy to prove if you printed your label online, but someone will be along shortly to provide more details. I haven't had this happen to me yet.
Cheers, C.

@maksoutlet All you need to win is proof of shipment. You don’t need proof of delivery. I would call PayPal back and recite the seller protection policy and ask them to release your funds.
you are at least the THIRD seller to be a victim of this. There are 2 other posts that I know of, from sellers who were told by FedEx that eBay requested the change! In fact the other sellers were given the same eBay employee name— Nathan Heyward!
The eBay employees who post here were tagged and they say that they looked into things and no eBay employee is involved. I guess eBay doesn’t think they need to tighten things down with FedEx since this is still happening!

If you shipped via FedEx using eBay's account - then that is why FedEx is saying that it was "eBay." Although eBay did not physically reroute, but because the account is billed to eBay, they are the true account holder. The only for you to be assured that the reciepient will not re-route using FedEx, is to have your own FedEx account and when creating the shipping label, check the box that does not allow to have the recipient change the address. I am not sure if you can do the same with eBay's FedEx account, but with your own, you are in full charge. And since there is a surcharge for address changes, there may be any extra amount on your invoice from FedEx. I am not even sure how this will play out w/PP - hopefully someone with better knowledge insofar as the buyer/recipient changing the address and now with the open PP case can assist you further.
Good luck

Using an eBay label doesn’t mean that that is why FedEx says eBay requested the change.
there are several threads posted in the last month where someone claiming to be Nate from eBay called FedEx and had the packages rerouted. As far as the PP case, the OP is covered by seller protection since it’s an UA chargeback and all he needs is proof Of shipment not proof of delivery :?

But as posting said, if the seller doesn't have a fed ex account and if printing thru ebay, linked, then ebay is the seller of record. Most likely anyone can call and say they are from ebay.
I'm curious as to what goes in the reference fields when you ship fed ex or ups from ebay - if it's the item number, then anyone could be able to get the tracking # from that.

Hmmm. I did some google magic and there is a Nathan Heyward who works for eBay. He is the senior manager of eBay's "carrier department".
So either the scammer knows this, or someone internally really is scamming people. I mean no one is perfect.
