Have you checked out the NEW way to put handling charge on your listing....It is Incredible and Time Consuming....So ebay does not want us to charge a handling fee - message received. Just started rolling it out so if not on your page yet just wait. Love to know what ya'll think.

A hint or a clue would be helpful.
What is "incredible" about it? Is eBay requiring a justification of some sort for adding a handling charge?
And what is time consuming about it? Are there more steps to go through?
Help me understand ?

I've created business policies for shipping with S&H included and nothing has changed that I can see, I just select the policy I want for the listing and I don't have to do anything with the S&H fee, it's automatically there. Please let us know what you mean.

Maybe there is something that has "just started rolling out" and eBay hasn't gotten around to my selling ID yet.
Because I switched over to my selling ID to start a listing, just to see what happens when I add a handling charge.
And I had no more difficulty adding a handling charge than I ever have.
The only thing I saw about handling charges was that sellers cannot add a handling charge if the item has "free shipping."
Which is nothing new.

Well it must be me that is dim from these responses,,,,You used to just put a handling fee in a box and that was it. I do not fully understand it but know there is no box and nothing says handling fee. There is a drop down menu around the area of shipping and when you click it MANY selections appear. The Ebay Rep. told me you have to scroll through all of the choices until you find Handling Fee and then click on it and you have to do that each time you list. This is insane. Anybody use it yet. ? Thanks.

I use third-party tools to list, haven't listed directly to eBay since SYI 2.0 (around 2002?) so I'm like a complete newbie using eBay listing form.
I started a new listing
scrolled down to the shipping section
clicked the see all options button
There is only 6 choices/toggles
One of them is Handling Charge
Turn that on and the box appears on the listing form
I saved that listing as a draft and then started a new listing, the choice to toggle ON appears to be sticky so you set it once to display the handling fee box by default.

Why would you need to charge a handling fee?
If you wanted to charge a $3 handling fee on a $20 item, Just charge $23.

I also had trouble finding it the other day and actually posted about it. Once you click on that drop down menu (which is off to the side and not obvious at first), then you just toggle the "handling fee" option which turns it on. Now it shows as before when I list and I do not have to do this every time. I know where it is, though, if it disappears again.
I only use it when I list something parcel select, so hadn't even looked to find it for a while.

that sounds like a good concept
the problem is not every seller can understand concepts
handling fees work out better when you have fixed shipping prices
most of my items are about six ounces and I ship usps 1st class
some are heavier so this morning I increased my flat rate of $5 all the way up to $5.50
I feel better already just knowing I have 50 cents worth of extra wiggle room for shipping
when I sell 2000 pieces this year it will be a whopping grand in theory

Just my opinion.
I think most buyers would rather buy a $26 item than a $23 item with a $3 handling fee.

I just went through and raised most of my flat rate to all FCP prices in anticipation of the new rates Jan 22.

How Would a Buyer know there is a handling Fee??
01-14-2023 07:38 AM
That would work for flat rate shipping, but when I list fishing rods, I use calculated shipping(priority mail) so only way to cover the shipping tubes is to add $2 handling fee. As far as I know, it doesn't show the buyer the handling fee and when there could be a $4-6 difference in shipping depending on the buyers locations, I can't use a flat rate on them.

They don't.
the listing tool has shipping options that you can set up and use. Name them whatever you want to name them. Like Fred or Ethel. Then those options are available whenever you list something.
