New Markdown Manager very confusing

I see ebay made another change. Today it is Markdown manager. The old one was really intuitive and worked well.

The new one I can't figure out. I managed to figure out how to do a simple 10% discount. But how the heck do you put 5% on one item and 10% on another within the same promotion? According to ebay you can.

I'm in the section called "select discount" and yet it was hardcoded at 10%. I couldn't select anything. I would have assumed you could change it on each listing selected. You can't that I could see.

Anyone figure this out? The layout and verbiage are very confusing and all over the place.  Or is this still in the testing phase?

On a side note, I see they removed the custom times. Now it's just every 30 minutes. Another feature demolished in the name of change.

New Markdown Manager very confusing

I am having an issue and attempting to find if any other users are having the same problem with the new markdown manager replacement tool ("sale event + markdown) in "promotions manager".

Info I posted about the problem here:   https://community.ebay.com/t5/Technical-Issues/BUG-SELLER-HUB-NEW-SALE-EVENT-MARKDOWN-Markdown-Manag...

There's a lot of stuff in that thread now (probably too much at this point), but the simple gist is although I can start a SE+M promotion fine, as soon as it goes live I'm unable to edit it (primarily to add items), but I haven't gotten past that to do what you attempted to have one item at 5% and one at 10%.  Basically unable to edit whatsoever after the SE+M goes live.

This sounds very similar, can you confirm if you are also experiencing this problem?  Based on your post it seems perhaps you may be?  If not I hope you get this resolved soon!

They must only be putting some sellers into what you describe as my markdown manager is as it always was.  Maybe you are in some sort of beta test?  Whatever it is it sounds extremely confusing and I am not looking forward to this when they roll it out across the board.  I like MM the way it is now.  Good luck in figuring it out -- and when you do please enlighten the rest of us.

Yes, the change over is not total but is almost there. Mine switched one time and then the next time it was back to markdown manager.  This change is very eBay.  They are seemingly under the impression that the more options and the more confusing they make it the better it is.

There is nothing about Promotions Manager that is intuitive and many optons that should be easily available, if they even exist, are hidden or titled in such a way as to not be a clue as to what is offered in that option.

The promotion manager, as it stands, is delicate and prone to mistakes.

Mine has been switched over to the new promotions manager since I posted on this thread last.  I actually didn't find it that confusing after reading through the threads here on it.  I think it was a 'sale event + (some other phrase)' or something like that that I chose and it functioned just like the old markdown manager.

I was used to using markdown manager but I can adapt to this new way.  It is easier than I thought it would be.  Are you having some problems with it?  If so, read through the board and see if it helps to clarify things.

I found it to be very simple! Didn't need to read anything to figure it out. You simply rely on the drop down box. If doing a % off sale, select the % in the drop down, go to next page to select the items you wish to discount via check boxes. You simply repeat the process until you're done discounting. You'll see the % stated next to those you already designated, so you can't double select. If you want to add more items to a discount you've already done, just go back and reselect it from the drop down. To launch select the date and times.

It was great to be able to apply different discount levels on products within 1 sale!! I love it!

I think at very first it may seem a little confusing to some.  But it was all explained here in another thread.

OP and others confused by this new method:

  •  Pick marketing tab in SH (if you are using SH)
  • From there pick 'promotions' on the left side of your screen
  • There click the blue bar that says 'Create Promotion" right upper side of screen and on that drop down pick 'sale event + markdown
  • Once there is easy peasy you just select the % off and the items you want

Sounds more confusing than it is. I was NOT open to this new method But once you do it for one sale you will have a handle on it and should have no problems with creating more sales.  I promise -- it's not hard at all.

I liked the old MM as I could select all 1000+ items at one time. With the new app, I have to create 3 different sales because of the 500 item limit. Am I missing something?

Not a huge deal, just takes 3 times as long to create a simple sale with a percentage discount.

My issue with the change is that when I go to markdown manager and create a sale now,
I only have a choice to use their percentages preset.  I can't choose a 4% or lower markdown anymore.

I don't understand that.  Why should I be limited to 5%?
Who are they to decide that 4% isn't a worthwhile discount?

What if I were selling very high value items and needed to go under 4%?
