So, beginning tomorrow, another increase in our final value fee. Up from 12.55% to 15%. I have been selling on EBay for almost 10+ years and I think I'm going to have to call it quits. I know other selling sites are doing the same, but, I don't do this for a living - it is just a side thing for me and I am not willing to give EBay or anyone else that much of a cut into my profit. It used to be fun selling here and sales were much more frequent than they are now.

In what category?

I just looked at a completed sale from earlier this week.
Item sold for $9.95
Shipping collected $4.35
Sales tax Collected $.60
Order total $14.90
Fees $2.29 (FVF and the transaction fee)
Effectively a 15.369% fee load on the sale.
All you need to do is price yourself accordingly and the fees are covered by the sale amount.
I run with the assumption that the total fees will be @ 15.5% of the sale.

I sell mostly jewelry, handbags, and clothing. If the sale is up to $1,000.00, fee is 15%. If over $1,000 fee is 6.5%. I seldom make a sale over $1,000.00 in those categories.

Well if you did have sales over 1k then we all would be switching to jewelry, handbags and clothing 😁
I looked through my sales from the last few days and seeing 12.55 - 14.55 depending on the category
Home and Garden being the lowest, books and magazines + Media(DVD's) being higher

If that works for you, then great. It doesn't for me. In order to cover the fees and still make the profit I think is reasonable, I would have to price that item at a price that it probably would never sell for. I'm not into giving things away.

I believe the OP is referring to the actual FVF, not a "fee load" of some kind.

No, that is not what is happening. You get the 30 cent transaction fee whether your sale is for $1 or $10,000. So to get an accurate percentage that you pay on your transaction you should not consider your transaction fee of 30 cents. If you do, then your fees will just fluctuate for you all the time and make it very difficult for yourself to get a handle on it for pricing. So if your category has a selling fee of 12.55 %, when you are pricing your item, you add that amount to the cost plus 30 cents.
For the Jewelry category you are right, it is a 15% FVF plus 30 cents per transaction for non store owners.. You can just use the calculations below just replace the 10.20% to whatever the fee was before going into MP for Jewelry.
The fees in MP have NOT increased overall fees. The following numbers represent those that do not have a store and the fee rate for most common categories [not all].
Fees BEFORE going into MP
10.20% FVF + 2.9% PP fees = 13.10% plus 30 cent per transaction fee.
In MP the fees are:
10.20% FVF + 2.35% money processing fee paid to MP = 12.55% plus a 30 cent per transaction fee.
Starting August 2nd, PayPal is raising their fees, so they will be as follows:
10.20 Ebay FVF + 3.49 PP Fee = 13.69% plus .49 cent Per Transaction fee
PP is apparently offering different fees to different sellers, likely depending on size. From what I've seen it is between 2.59% and 3.49%.

They are selling in a category with 15% FVF.

Clothing, Shoes & Accessories > Women's Bags & Handbags = 15% FVF
