Received neutral FB because I didn't communicate. The Emails had nothing to do with the item, cost or shipping. Was selling a piece of pottery her father made and she wanted me to know. She did buy the item for $9.95 it was shipped quickly and received in perfect condition. Then Emailed me to say she bought it. Then gave me neutral feedback because I didn't communicate! I know, maybe I should have made small talk.... but. I guess she wanted me to praise he father or say I was happy she won the auction. To top it off, I gave her positive feedback and said her father was a great potter. She waited until I gave her feedback to give me the Neutral FB. I'v had only Positive feedback for the past 300+ transactions. Not fair!!!!

ebay might remove that neutral if you ask.
Worth a try..

How absurd🙃
What possible leverage could you be retaining by withholding a meaningless positive feedback?
Buyers have leverage. Sellers do not.
Some buyers may hold off posting bad feedback if they see the sellers hasn't left them positive FB thinking that if they leave bad feedback the seller won't give them positive feedback. It's not much leverage but it's something.

I agree with 7606Dennis, people just want to chat and especially your excited buyers over their purchases I know a lot of my buyers chatted back and forth, I even kept in contact with a couple from Texas for a year, both are TRS and are delightful. I don't see anything wrong with correspondence to another human being especially being isolated for 2 months, all have been just a pleasure to chat with. I'm sorry that Ops buyer had to give her a NF, yeah that was uncalled for.

That is not safe yet. Please practice social distancing.
I was thinking more along the lines of online socializing but I agree that practicing social distancing or keeping a safe distance form others is a wise precaution to take at present.

I can't stand it when buyers do that, some sellers have done it to me too.
I don't want to chat, I just want to buy and sell stuff.
It's an instant block if a buyer starts chatting to me, unless they are actually asking questions about the item or shipping. If the buyer has already purchased something, and then starts chatting, it almost makes me cry and I don't know what to do..If a seller starts chatting after I've purchased an item, I ignore them, and I think--just ship the item..
I don't mind chatting, I can chat all day, but it has to be face to face, or on the phone, I don't like chatting via messages, or social media..
Wanna chat? Message me later. 😉

LOL!
You took and isolated that comment out of context.
Internet communication is about as distant one can be socially.
It's obvious 7606dennis was referring to the buyer wanting to chat online through messages.
Perhaps you know of electronic transmission of viruses via the internet? Do tell!
Nope. I read in the paper and see on the news government officials and doctors saying, Practice Social Distancing. So that means stay off your phone, stay off Facebook, stay off Twitter and other social media. If they are preaching it, it must be right.
I hadn't heard that bit of wisdom from our government officials. When they first started promoting the 6 foot social distancing thing, I remember that in Nam we were taught to never stand closer than 5 meters. While I admit that it has been a long time, I do think that 6 feet is about 3 meters too close. But what do I know. 😉
Of course, you can believe everything the government tells you. If y'all don't believe me, ask any American Indian. 😉

Unless it states so on the item page, purchase price does not include chatting.
If there's a problem, we'll fix it. But we work too hard and for too many hours to hold buyers' hands.

That was the stupidest thing they could have called. It's PHYSICAL distancing that is important and what it should have been called from the get go. So now many people believe it's ok to get together in groups at the park or the beach because the government has told them to socially distance, as in, avoid social media platforms.

EXACTLY!
Bad buyers and scammers don't give a rat's hindquarters about the feedback they receive. They know it's meaningless and will just use another account when theirs gets too soiled. Good buyers actually care, because frankly most of them don't know that they can only get positives. They think it actually means something.
I don't run my business to avoid scammers, I run it to attract GOOD buyers, which is why I leave a thank you when I ship.

For the love of all that's holy please tell me you're joking! Surely to goodness people aren't truly THAT stupid?!?!?
If that's true, I seriously think I'm done with humanity...

I think it was a joke, but I agree that at least distancing from Twitter is good for the sanity.

I put my caller on speakerphone and then yell at them from across the room.

Yes some people are truly THAT stupid. Just look at all the news reports of people crowding the beaches over the holiday.

Over the long term I wonder if this will serve to raise the average IQ among the survivors. Its kind of predictable that there may be local hotspots in the near future in beach communities - but the real problem is with the tourists who were just visiting and have now brought the virus home with them.
