Negative feedback taken off by EBAY

Tooth Whitening Gel

"THIS PRODUCT HAS TO BE REFRIGERATED " according to my dentist otherwise it breaks down, and it wasn't, and it didn't work.

I tried to contact the seller a couple of time to no avail, so then I left feedback to warn other buyers about this seller and now the feedback has been taken off, this is bogus.
One of EBAY's reps said the I should only buy from a highly rated sellers with 100% positive feedback, I would like to know how I do that when negative feedback is taken off? How many negative feedbacks has this seller gotten and he is being protected by EBAY.

OMG that made me laugh..,,although it was not a joke.

I can not believe that rep was so inept to give you that response without seeing the irony in it.

If ebay removes the negative feedback....then the seller WOULD be rated with 100%   ...lol

Why don't you just file an item not as described claim ?

There are many reasons for the removal of feedback, and since we can't see the feedback we can't know the basis for its removal.

Your dentist is partially correct.   Some of the Opalescence products need to be refrigerated.   Some do not.   However, none of them have to be refrigerated during shipping.  And you cannot know how the seller stored the product before shipment.

I simply went on-line to the manufacturer's website and found the info about refrigeration, byt the way.  Read what the manufacturer says about refrigeration:

https://www.opalescence.com/education/faq

I'm sorry the stuff didn't work for you, but lots of these do-it-yourself dental products do not live up to the hype.

When you were buying it were you expecting it to be shipped on ice or something?

Assuming they even knew about the whole refrigeration thing maybe they thought like you did that it might work anyway.  I can guarantee you that if they knew about the refrigeration requirement and listed in any way they would assume the seller was OK with it not being refrigerated since they're buying it from eBay and it's being shipped.

I sort of think they deserved to be able to get that feedback removed in this case to be honest.

It's like if someone sells something that's expired and they clearly show the expiration date. Technically its recommend not to use it past the expiration point but If the buyer is aware and is willing to risk that it'll still work the same, then the seller doesnt deserve a negative feedback if it doesn't work (This is of course assuming the seller clearly told them what the expiration date was).  I think that it should be assumed if you're buying something on eBay it's not going to be shipped on ice.

Definitely return items you're not happy with instead of relying on feedback they're very easy to get removed (Especially in cases like this  Where they sent you exactly what they said they were going to send).

@weazard

The seller is only the seller of the product.  They do not manufacture the toothpaste.  If you want it refrigerated buy it from the dentist.  The seller doesn't deserve a negative, ebay didn't think the seller deserved a negative so they removed it.

In this case, removal may have been justified: buyer beware is implied in a case like this. On the other hand, eBay's recommendation to only buy from sellers with 100% feedback, and they remove feedback as a matter of course if a seller is big enough....  uhmmm?  And what about the little guy who get slapped with similar unjustified feedback but can't get it removed?

One more strong intimation that eBay wants to get rid of small sellers.

Feedback is only about YOUR experience with the transaction. It is not to be used to "warn" anyone and that will surely get the feedback removed. You warn others by writing about your bad experience only....

I have had a negative i left removed. Being a seller myself, i don’t leave a poor rating lightly. Gave it a lot of thought beforehand over two weeks. Was careful not to break any feedback rules when i left it. Still, the seller was somehow able to get it removed. So i feel your outrage.

Same here.  Seller sold me a clothing article as one size, but what I got was almost 2 sizes smaller than they'd indicated.  "Well it's marked a size X".  It was also marked a totally different Euro size, and the European size was the correct one.  Euro size was not in title, specifics OR description.  It was in a photo that eBay never showed me.  Left a neg, told the seller they were forcing me to. Seller didn't care, and it was easy later to see why.  It was gone as if I'd never left it.   To top it all off, I filed an NAD and had to complain to eBay to get my shipping back.

This was a big seller.  One guess why they have a good feedback rating, and one guess why I only buy from small sellers from here out if I buy on the platform at all.

There are lots of reasons feedback will be removed and not all have to do with violations of eBay's Feedback Policy. See the seller protections page for details:  Seller protections | eBay

This, to me, is the most problematic:

If a buyer reports that an item isn't as described

If the buyer reports the item didn’t match the listing and requests a return, you are protected from negative and neutral feedback if you offer free returns, accept the return, and give a refund.

From what I have seen, the seller does not need to offer free returns in the listing. The fact that the seller pays for return shipping in these cases makes it a free return for the buyer. So simply accepting a return and giving a refund means the negative/neutral feedback will be removed. I believe this may even be automatic based on some message I have seen. I am not even sure the seller needs to pay for the return shipping. It seems that simply refunding the buyer may do the trick.

ALWAYS be honest and exceedingly FAIR!

If someone seems angry about something (hasnt happened to me in a couple years luckily) I direct them to return it AND HOPE they do open a return case, knowing that they any negative feedback can be deleted as long as I handle the return right. If the item is under $20 I will probably just refund right away to not have to deal with paying to get it back.

Negative feedback would be hard to stick to any seller who takes returns and handles them right. That is what Ebay's Money Back Guarantee is all about. You get your money back if you aren't happy, so you really should have nothing to complain about.
