I accepted a buyer's offer because it was indicated that he had 100% positive feedback. When I actually checked his feedback, I see about 10 comments that he never paid but they are listed as positive. What is the deal. Do we have to actually check their "positive" comments to find out if they are really positive or negative in tone.

I check the feedback of potential buyers when an offer is made. But that's just me... a seller doesn't have to.

If you are that concerned....yes. Most buyers know they can get false positives removed and ding the seller. If those sellers had reported the buyer, they would be gone by now.

When a Buyer makes an offer, I look at 2 things -
1) their FB History - how much, how recent, what comments other Sellers left
2) FB left for others
Both usually tell you a great deal if those exist on a profile. Ymmv.

You have read and understand eBay's rules and are aware that buyers can only be given positive FB, right?
When you see that a buyer has negative comments in his FB, that means that a clueless seller is risking his account for a defect. Any buyer who receives negative comments needs to immediately contact eBay and get the remarks removed. That seller then gets a defect.
We should ALL be playing by the rules, no matter how simplistic that seems.
When a buyer has not paid within 4 days, on the 5th day, that seller can cancel, citing nonpayment. eBay cancels, gives buyer a strike and refunds the seller's FVF.
You might want to do more reading.

Do you mean that you check the FB that potential buyers have left?
