How does negative feedback work? Does it just automatically come off after a certain amount of time? Do you have to request for it to be taken off?

It falls off after a year from showing up on your profile, but will be there forever. The only way it is removed by eBay is if it goes against their policy.

Negative feedback stays in your feedback history forever, but after 12 months it no longer shows in that profile box at the top of your feedback page, and is no longer part of your percentage rating. There are some grounds for getting a neg removed by eBay or asking the buyer to change it, but IIRC has to be done within 30 days after receiving it.
