Hi,

The service center was unable to return the item to you, so we've closed this request.

You're not required to refund the buyer, and there's nothing else you need to do.

See return details 

The buyer is returning the item. Based on the return rule that is set for your account, the return has been automatically approved.

We've asked the buyer to send the item back to the address that you set.

 

After the buyer ships the item, we'll share the tracking information with you.

Please inspect the item carefully and issue a refund.

got a request for a return. But right after that I got an email from Ebay. So now do I refund when the item comes back or not ? The money is on hold in my account.

According to the first part of your message, there is nothing you need to do.

 

Wait and see if the item returns.  If it doesn't return by the deadline, the hold will be lifted and you don't have to do anything.

There have been several others that have received this message in the past day, and allegedly this is another glitch. (Reddit posts)

 

If you check the return details you will likely see that the return is still open, in which case you should proceed as normal and refund if you receive the return. (which ebay will likely instruct you to do when you get it)

 

Maybe go to the eBay Facebook page and send them a message for clarity.

You need to edit your post. Remove your personal information and the buyer's ID.

I received this message today as well.  It is an error/glitch.  If your customer contacts eBay, I believe they can open the return again.

I received the exact same message.  If I receive the item, I will refund.  It's the right thing to do.

Ebay told you that you did not need to refund.  Why do you think you still may need to?
