I've used eBay since the 1990s. I'll walk now. I am not at all, in any way, happy with submitting banking information to eBay. I'll go find some other place to sell stuff...like Craigslist where at least it's free!

Certainly your choice.............but you gave it to Ebay when they owned paypal.......

I always felt paypal had better security. I also liked having the separation. For me it was really just fun selling stuff on ebay. I will most likely be leaving ebay as well.

Also if I gave to ebay, then they would already have it and I would not need to supply it again.

When paypal split from Ebay........I'm sure ebay didn't retain the payment records.
On another point..........the banking information requested.......the routing # and acct # are on any check.......so the info is available to anyone who receives your check.........

Good bye and Good luck.

I've had no problems with Managed Payments. I'm thankful for the opportunity to sell on eBay, no other venue offers the exposure. If they need Managed Payments to remain viable I support them. For my business to suceed I need eBay's business to suceed. Some self serving people seem to think eBay is a public utility of some sort. EBay is responsible to stock holders, employees and the people that use the platform. It would be irresponsible and negligent if they did not take every opportunity to be a profitable business entity.

I must assume that all these people who appear to be having so much trouble with joining MP must not use any credit cards, do any online banking ,have applied for any type of loan and do any online activity at all. If they do then they need to worry signicantly more about those transactions than they do about the security of MP. The fact also exists that why would any one feel that paypal which had your SSN be any safer to any attack than ebay. I am staying right hear usuing MP. As I strongly feel ebay still provides the best market place for me and many other sellers. This is not directed at any one just my feeling on this issue.

eBay mishandled the SS number issue. Yes, to enter a banking relationship you need to provide. However, they way they do it with an online interface and no explanation makes many people leery given the number of data breaches.
eBay provided no transparency on who the SS is given to, why its needed, or how it will be used. They should have have foreseen a fair amount of concern. At the same time they asked of SS they asked for bank account logon credentials and account numbers. In all honesty when I saw this I thought I was being phished. If you have my social and banking info then you have me.
They needed to do a much better education campaign around this.

The simplicity of eBay and PayPal being connected made things so easy. I liked selling stuff on eBay and leaving the money in my PayPal account - which usually I just turned around and bought stuff on eBay. Simple and easy. I'm not a big seller or buyer, but now that the simplicity is gone, I'll just stop buying and selling on eBay.

I don't disagree.......... especially on the account logon info..........that was an option that wasn't made clear.....I think they assumed more financial knowledge than some people have/had. I remember the same objections when PP required the SS# some years back......but objecting to the basic bank account # and routing info has never made sense to me.... How do people expect them to send the money to their bank account without that info? I've had to submit voided checks to any business where I want an auto payment to come out of a bank account...

I would just like to say Thank You to the huge number of sellers who submitted their info and are now part of Managed Payments, and who did NOT feel compelled to start a thread announcing "I'm staying."

Nor ever been employed in the United States of America, or filed income taxes using a preparer, or been a student at any college or university that used the SSN as the Student ID, or given info for any credit check or any reason, or applied for a business license or a DBA name or a sales tax number, got a driver's license or registered a car, applied for cell phone service, applied for any government benefit of any kind, dealt with any investment counsellor or broker, used any third part (such as an escrow service) in a real estate transaction, or... Oh, it's too long a list to make.
So I can't take this sudden outrage and uproar seriously, but I can be glad that it's thinning the herd on eBay.

I think they are tax cheats, have court judgements against them or are dead beat parents who don't pay support.

Goodbye... Good Luck with your yardsales, fleamarkets and Craigslist (where at least it's free)
