NEW buyer scam

So I just got screwed by a buyer and EBAY.... situation.... buyer buys a coat for 150.00... waits 4 weeks, requests a return, stating the coat is defective. Ebay forces me to accept the return without proof from the buyer.  Ebay provides a label with tracking number. Buyer waits a week to ship item. Returned items label has been altered by the buyer. The label is addressed to a business close to my home, not to me, the senders name is not the same as the person that bought the item. the buyers address is in New Jersey, the return label indicates its from Florida. Ebay refunds the buyer, they buyer keeps the item and gets the 150.00. Ebay wont accept my photos of the altered label, they wont acknowledge what Im telling them. They say the tracking number indicates it was delivered, thats all the proof they need. The tracking indicates it was dropped off to a receptionist at the business...  BEWARE SELLERS... THIS SCAM IS PROFITABLE AND EBAY WONT HELP YOU!!!!A

Hi, sorry to hear.

Just a little confused - if the item did not come back to you, how do you know the label was altered by the Buyer?  Your post indicates you have pictures of the altered label?  

My apologies - just trying to understand how it unfolded.  When a return is initiated, e-Bay does refund once it shows to them as delivered if e-Bay took over the process for you and sent the Buyer the label to return it and authorized the return - i think that is what you're saying, you did not authorize the return?

I would like to add...

The buyer can just attach the original (unaltered) return label to an empty box, send that back and get a refund too... So why go through the trouble, eaby will issue the refund and there's nothing anyone can do.

So you have seen the label and photographed it?

Can we then assume that the local business turned the coat over to you?

What was in the package that the business received and which you saw -- at least long enough to photograph?

And if the business recognized your name, why would they then return or refuse the package?

Very sorry this happened to you.

File a police report in your town and the buyers if you're able to, and also file a mail fraud complaint with IC3.gov. I would also alert their local post office too.

PS: Unfortunately though this is "NOT" a new scam. Has been going on for 13 years since ebay instituted the "ebay money back guarantee" which pretty much always backs and sides with buyers.

mailman told me what business the package was addressed too.. i went there and got the business owner to allow me to take pictures of the label and the DVD that was inside.. i sold the person a parka coat, he altered the label and sent a dvd..

I contacted the post office, who contacted my postman... who went to the business he delivered the package to.. he verified the package had the same tracking number but was addressed to that business... i then went to the business and got the owner to let me take pictures of the package label and tge DVD that was inside. I sold the buyer a parka coat.. he returned a DVD....

My name and address was not on the label. The label had the tracking number the buyer provided ebay but the address of the business and the name “MSA&D Returns” as the addressee.. the return address had the name of Alex stankovic from sarasota florida... i sold  the coat to a guy named Viktor MRDA in new jersey...?

Seems a loop hole to be used by everyone to keep the item and get the money back!!!

Ebay wont help in any way...? Ive contacted many agents who say they will contact the appeal section but the appeals person emails me with different information than what ive told the agent.. then emails me saying they cant get the money back sorry you got cheated oh well...
