Did you used to run 4, maybe 5 or 10 sales a month? Now, you can only run ONE SALE, per item, a month....how, ill explain.
You must have an item listed for 14 days prior to it going on sale...great, so on day 15 i can run a sale from day 15-17 and then 18-25, etc, etc, etc, so on? NO! If your sale ends after one day, or 2 or even a week, ANY ITEM that didn't sell can not be put on another sale for an entire 14 more days...aka your listing will end by that time, and by the time you relist/sell similar, you're going to have to wait 14 days again.
So in theory, you can ONLY run 1 sale per month for EACH item..
Keeping track of the 14 days, when you have hundreds or thousands of items is going to be nearly impossible...I relist/sell similar listings every single day...meaning every day another 5-10, 10-20 or however many items you relist a day, will be elidgable every 14 days...If you relist items every day or even once a week, then you will ALWAYS have items that aren't on sale. That means 'entire inventory' selection on markdown manager will NEVER actually be your full store..
Get ready for a big mess and a huge hassle for those who use markdown manager religiously...
I have came to realize that this might make ebay a lot more money, while hurting almost ALL SELLERS....Your items, half the time, won't be on sale...meaning a HUGE, HUGEEEE amount of people will most definitely start using Promoted Listings to make up for the 50% of the time they can't run a sale on THEIR OWN items. So instead of running a 30% off sale days 1-14, many will run promoted listings to make up for lack of exposure with their higher prices...But figuring out when and how with so many newly listed items a day, will be near impossible...you'd have to wait for your listings to relist in bulk so they all start and end on the same day. or relist 1/2 on 'x' day and they other half on day 'y'... no listings any day you feel at random if you use markdown manager, because it would be an extremly confusing mess.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, SHOULD BE A TON OF FUN

Well said...in 5 years i have never had 2 full days of blackouts.my first blackout day was a few months ago....I am now going on DAY 3 of NO SALES...and i used to sell 8-15 items a day, every day, no questions asked, no blackouts. Have had months 2 years ago where i would sell around 385 items a month...last month i sold 90.....and its going to get worse with this markdown mess.

I just got this clarified during a 2 hour phone call this morning. We do $1500 per day avg. Yesterday was $250 and today is $189. Its a mess. Were spending 4th of july trying to figure out what we want to do. A 4900 item store that does over 400k a year for years 99.9% rating and just problem after problem. We ran a 5 day sale becasue it wasnt clear, now we cant run a sale for 14 days. Its the stupidist of all the changes and will put less money in all of our pockets. Ive spent 100k a year on ebay more than once and wont shop here anymore.

That makes snese to coral us into paying more for promoted listings. Its already a lot of work running a store with 4900 items and 45k a month in sales and also paying 3-4k per month. We dont need to get wrapped up in promoting something I thought we were paying to do with our monthly fees. All of these things come back to revenue increases via the backdoor and disingenuous means. It makes us trust anything will be ok going forward, therefore putting less time and resources into this avenue.
Just raise the fees on the front end and leave the things that work alone. Then were paying more without having to spend ridiculous amounts of time reformatting everything. the entore way we do business now needs to change. Abiut 6 things at one time with all of it on our shoulders. Im pretty sure ebay made billions that way. I think they are trying to make the company more valuable with their catalog but everyone has a giant catalog now and everything has been pushed so far to one side that its going to snap at any point with sellers.

My Sales and Livelyhood Has Flatlined. Literally No Sales in a Week. How Can Ebay Catalog Antiques and Unique Vintage Items anyway.. NOT Thought Through at ALL.

BY the way, so far I have found the promoted listing service almost worthless!!
I sell way more outside of that system every month. Ebay, you will lose money and more if you are angling on that for more revenue. Listing promotions controlled by the seller make more sense than the WORTHLESS 14-DAY RULE.

They should go back to the old way. I personally liked to run weekend sales which as stated above will be very hard when you have over 1000 items in your store. I actually missed out on running a 4th of July sale because of this and I can really see the difference. Most buyers are looking for that markdown on items before they purchase it. Not seeing that will effect our bottom dollars.

I was told you still have to have an item listed for 14 days before you put it on sale. I only list my items for 10 days at a time so this means I'll never be able to put an item on sale this is ridiculous.

I called and got the run around...i list items for 30 days...so i can only put items on sale twice a month.. I would put items on sale every weekend...Why even pay for a store..now no bulk edit markdown if you can basically only do it 2 times a month. Also if you change the price in that 14 days and try to use markdown manager it will be skipped...This is so crazy...I couldnt run a dale over the 4rth sales way down...beyond mad...Now the funny thing is i have item up for 20 days no price adjustment and they were still skipped???? This is a terrible policy..i explained to rep what if i have good begining of the month and i can change my profit margins...now i cant lower prices for customer unless i want to do it individually...Very time consuming and ridulous considering i pay $27.99 for a store and the stupid mark down manager is the only real tool you get for the cost of a store....Ebay people making these decisions are crazy...and have no real idea what it is to sell on their platform.

brian@ebay wrote:I'm happy to let everyone know that because of the feedback we heard from members of the Community, we no longer require 14 days after an item is removed from a markdown sale before it can be placed on sale again. Please go here for more information
I am sorry I am totally confused now....
1. Most small sellers STILL have to wait 14 days after an item is listed to use markdown manager on that item, unless the seller has been notified by eBay that they are exempt them from this new policy.... that part is still true right?
2. BUT... after a 14 day wait, those not exempt from the 14 day after listing wait can include that item into multiple sales events through markdown manager for the remaining 16 days of a 30 day listing?
Is that how it works now?
I don't know, maybe it is just me, but I am having a difficult time understanding this..... why does it seem so confusing?
Any clarity is most appreciated! Thank you.
