NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

I talked to Ebay this morning and the young man I talked to said that the "Markdown Manager" changes are going to be taken under consideration!!!!  Maybe, he was just placating me but it might be worthwhile for more (many many more!) phone calls to flood their lines and plead our case!  I used the "call me back" option and they called me back in 15 minutes versus waiting on hold for that time. The first young man listened to me and then transferred me to someone else who actually apologized to me for the time that the call took.

This new change will mean a loss of sales for all of us who have run sales in our stores for years!  Please take the time to make the phone call to plead our case and maybe if enough of us complain, they might realize that they may have made an error in changing this way of operation for us!

NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

"Call me back'" is wonderful isn't it?  I've been surprised how many people don't seem to know that option exists...maybe we should keep it our little secret? 🙂  Just kidding of course! Though I have to say that I have never waited more than 5 minutes for a call-back, so things must really be hopping there in CS (and for good reason).

That would be great news on the markdown manager. I only use it about once a month, but the 14 day time-frame would almost lock a seller into a long auction, and I don't find those to be as successful. So here's hoping that the next we hear of it will be good news 🙂  *fingers crossed*

NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

I "complained" on social media via Ebay's official Facebook page messaging system and had a lovely woman tell me that she wanted more feedback from me on why the changes aren't good with markdown manager and she said she's going to pass all my concerns onto the higher powers that be.

So maybe contacting Ebay on Facebook and voicing your opinion is another way to get heard. 🙂

NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

And how do you suppose that ebay will go back to allowing some sellers to do something that is Illegal?

They may make a change, some will do an end run, and ebay will be forced to change it back.

I doubt they will.

NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

I guess one way is to not allow people to mark items past 10-15% off. The issue here is when you have a $50 item that someone lists at $100 with a 50-60% off sale. At the least they should have said for the first 14 days you cant go past XX% for a sale if they wanted to lockdown this kind of abuse.

I will say that since Friday, my sales have fallen off of a cliff when compared to YTD and the previous weekends. The upcoming holiday has nothing to do with bad sales. A year ago alone with half the inventory I was killing it, more than just this past week. Once this markdown manager update went into affect everything started going downhill.

NEW MARKDOWN MANAGER CHANGE!!!!!

Some days I think that if eBay stopped allowing people to call them over and over about stupid things, they could actually lower their fees.

eBay talks to their call center employees about as often as they speak to the sellers. It's not like some VP flies in to go to the call center (a completely seperate entity from the main offices) and sits down for a chat session to find out what people are all abuzz over.

Best case scenario - sellers keep speaking up for what they believe in and SOMETHING positive happens.

Worst case scenario - sellers keep speaking up for what they believe in and NOTHING happens.

Even if we try and nothing happens, then we're still exactly where we are now - at square one with this annoying issue.

Whether change happens or not is yet to be seen.

I can't read the future anymore than you can.

If everyone had the mentality that nothing could ever change with persistence, though, then history throughout the ages would have looked very bleak.

It pains me to bring this up again and I know I'm beating my head against a wall but there was nothing "illegal" about listing an item and then immediately using MM.

Maybe it's gaming the system or doing an end run, as you say, but I think ebay has something else in mind with this 14-days-first change.
