I never miss my mark when loading photos. Drag and drop.
Old tool sometimes just gave me a full screen shot of the photo being uploaded if not positioned just so, and then I had to back of of the listing, and start over.
Other than that it seems to be a time waster for some. I do mostly "sell similar", so not a lot window..... open/close.

just be calm and work through it.
It is not as bad as everyone states. After 3 to 6 listings, you will get the hang of it.
To simplify a little, use one of your current listings as sell similar if you're selling a similar. Less work than starting from scratch.

As with anything that is a big change, it is always hard to deal with on so many levels. It is annoying and frustrating to say the least. But once you are use to it. Set up some Templates to make your life easier. The form will continue to improve as more and more sellers are required to use it.
Ebay has a very good reason for doing it. There are actually several different listing form currently on Ebay. They are trying to make it one form for everyone. Both desktop and mobile devices. It will streamline things in the future for all of us. But in the meantime, we have to learn how to create a listing all over again and it isn't fun to be sure.

I would add that templates are your friend. If there's anything you sell frequently that you only have to change pictures and maybe a few choice options then create a template for it and use that as your base. It's much faster that way.
Personally, I love the new picture tool. It's so much faster for me and I can really get details if I need to.
Good luck. You'll get use to it.

I do mine by category of items I sell. I have a template set up for each type of item. It works great for me and saves me so much time.

The new tool was designed for mobile, for sellers who list on their phones. So, presumably, those sellers are getting some good out of it.
Sadly, when this mobile centric new listing tool is used to list on a desktop or a laptop, it can be, for many sellers, very frustrating, with lots of pop-ups and clicking.

It's good for Ebay, now they'll just have to keep up with one listing tool.
Didn't you think when they told us about the new tool, 2 years ago that everyone would be using it at sometime, well, that time has come.
I've used it awhile and don't see much of a difference now when listing, takes about the same amount of time as it did with the other listing tools.

I use a laptop/Windows11/Firefox. Just like @buyselljack2016, when I want to create a listing, I use sell similar... very easy to adjust, and it took only a few listings to like it better than the old format.
Accept that the old one is no more, adjust to the new one, and adapt your business model and time to it. It's not that difficult.
Cheers, Duffy

I currently use an Ipad for listing. New layout is rubbish. No real improvements, if anything -it’s worse. Dislike the shipping options (I live in france and for years, ebay have not made available access points nor, a particular shipping company available), no improvement - it’s worse and has likely been developed with the US market in mind. No wonder, buyers and sellers have moved away from ebay france..I get the updates - mobile user friendly. Unfortunately they haven’t learn’t to adapt to the local market needs.

I've been using it now for about a week. When my muscle memory gets switched from the old one to this new one, I'll do better. I've done so many listings that my brain automatically looks at the same spots, but things aren't where they used to be so I miss stuff.
I've messed up a couple things so far by not taking my time. I was even charged for a subtitle by getting in a hurry and filling in the wrong box---that had never happened to me before. oh well
I like the photo editor better, but not the part where you rearrange the photos. I also have more trouble with categories, but I know it will get easier. I have other complaints, but what's the point. I know I need to adapt.

The new tool was designed for both mobile and computer users. It is meant to get all sellers using one form.

So, if the objective was that all sellers should use the same form, that goal is certainly being achieved--by force.
That the New Tool design might improve the listing experience for many desktop/laptop users I find hard to believe. But then, I guess that wasn't part of the objective.
[It certainly hasn't improved the listing experience for me.]

On desktop? If so, what do you mean by this? I've had the new listing tool for about a week and I'm really struggling with the photo editor. The pictures, even the 'enlarged' one I've clicked to edit, is tiny. I can't see details well enough to do much but lighten or darken the pic. I've tried to use the background tool but it's not great, when I try to clean up the eraser and brush tool are round and like working with a bingo marker. If I enlarge the photo to do a more precise job, the enlarger scale sits on the photo, often right over where I need to touch up. I feel like I'm really missing something.

Agree 100%! I'm a 17 year eBay veteran and I've had so, so many issue with just the basic functionality with this new "create listing" revamp it's driving me mad with frustration. "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it." Basic "drop down" was quick and simple, now it's just a clunky, awkward NIGHTMARE.
