My sincerest apologies

Seems like calling myself an unofficial mentor has ruffled quite a few feathers around here. For that, if I bruised any egos, I do apologize. Yes, I realize that the definition of “mentor“ would fit most of the regulars on here – maybe all of them. But, understood that there is a certain status that some feel comes from that word. I really didn’t want to step on any toes. The last thing that I would want to do is disrupt anyone’s feelings of self-importance.  if I disappear from these boards, it is because me calling myself an unofficial mentor became too much for some people. Yikes.

But mostly the alien thing.

Are you crying?  There's no crying on eBay.

Not crying – just chopping onions.  Just getting together my dish item for the potluck.

Yes, agreed..always seemed kind of pointless to me to have to register on a board to be a 'mentor'. And that is not meant as any snark to those who have bothered to do that.

They're not really Vidalia unless you actually drive to Vidalia and buy em' there ya know.
Or your sister ships them to you from there.
According to my Georgia neighbor anyway. 😂

Without positive role models and mentors I'm going to revert back to my old ways.

I’m a former “mentor.”

A few weeks back, eBay asked us to sign NDAs. They warned if we did not, we would lose our “special status” as mentors. Those are the words eBay used.

Yes, I rolled my eyes too. lol

I was totally over it at that point.

I did not want to sign the NDA, but was persuaded to by my wife.

So, I signed… then pretty soon after, opted out of the program.

I am no longer special… and I have no status…

Re: My sincerest apologies

Uhhh, is the ‘mentor’ a paid position?  Less fees?  (New here).

P.S.

What happened to the well written English bloke with the piano in his picture?  He was witty.

Re: My sincerest apologies

I read some of the NDA - no way I was going to sign.  Why would I want to be obligated to be less than honest and forthcoming with people?  Why would I want to be told what lines to use and what company line to tow?

and, hey, you are a “mentor.”  Mentors don’t do it for the title or for sneak peeks.  They genuinely want to help people, and don’t do it for reward.

I thought the 'unofficial mentor' was funny.

But now I'm sad, and am also going back to my mad, bad and dangerous to know ways -meeting @youn2240 behind the building to hang out being horrible object lessons.

That is fbusoni.  Yes, I miss his postings, too.  Very enjoyable to read some of them.  He hasn't been here for a while.
