My pet peeve. Part 17.

Why on Earth would any seller do this?

Throw 2 light bulbs in a box loose to rattle around.

No newspaper.

No brown paper.

No styrofoam peanuts.

No air pillows.

Nothing.

That's a double whammy right there for me...no padding AND an over-sized box!  A perfect recipe for disaster.  You definitely got lucky.

I had a package like that. In my case in the box was a PC tower, keyboard, and a LCD screen.

And no the LCD screen never survived the journey.

Well, for starters, they're plastic, not glass, and are in their original packaging, so they're not really as fragile as their old incandescent ancestors, but yes, the lack of any material to prevent their bouncing around inside the box is pretty silly.

Overhead, overhead, overhead.

One size fits all.

Only have one size box. (got that free)

Ain't buying no stinking padding/filler.

Looks like the packaging that I got for my 4 oz bottle of Elmer's glue. (with the defaced label)

(they did at least ............. put my glue in a zip lock baggie)

ETA: I just noticed that even the bag is oversize.

LED bulbs are quite tough and resistant to poor handling.  I would have used some packing however.

On the other side sometimes I get items that aren't fragile inside of a padded box that's inside of another padded box (Up to three sometimes) and I end up with a big pile of crap to dispose of when a simple bubble wrap inside of one box would have done. Maybe the seller was worried that the item would escape during transport?  Properly applied clear packing tape would prevent such escape but even with 2 or 3 boxes they usually aren't properly taped on the outermost box.

Hopefully they came with at least a 2 year warranty. You can go after that seller if they fail before warranty has expired.

Because they shop on Amazon, Walmart, Target and that's how all their packages arrive. They think that's acceptable packaging.

Even the high-end department stores like Neiman's and Saks are cutting back on packaging.   The last two clothing items I have received have been in poly mailers.

All is well that ends well - just  chill.

Had a shipment received where the item (a fabric item) was  2 sheets of newspaper made into an envelope) with a shipping  label attach with scotch tape.  No issues - no rant - guess I did  say to myself **bleep**  learnt that watching or in the alleys when I was 10 in 1954. Looks like the coin I mailed in a box a couple of days ago. I did put the coin inside a bubble mailer wrapped up in the box so it wouldn't rattle around. I figured if they wanted a box to protect it, it would defeat the purpose if it was freely rattling in the box.
