My account was hacked

On April 15th my account was hacked and put my eBay account around $18,000.00 in the negative. The next day Ebay deleted all of my listings. Those listings totaled around $229,000.00 worth of merchandise. I was on chat with EBay for over 6 hours. I tried to start relisting on a new account and EBay won’t upgrade that account to the same as my old account which was premium. Without me having to pay out of pocket. Even though I was instructed not to list on my old account. I haven’t heard a word about my old account from eBay since the day it was hacked. I cant seem to get any help at all. Has anyone else had this issue? How or what did you have to do to have it resolved. I’ve already lost all of my listings and have to start all over from scratch.

Re: My account was hacked

Yes, I was hacked about 8 months ago. They took over my email address and my eBay store. Which I had for 20 years plus. I had 10,000 comments. Ebay couldn't do a darn thing. The guy was based over in Nigeria. They just asked if I had a backup. Like a smart phone or tablet with all my information. I contacted msn; they also couldn't help me. I had my eBay account and email way prior to the inventions of smart phones.  I always thought why you would even want even more information out there for people to steal by putting it on other devices.  This happened right when they were pushing backups on your other devices.  So, makes me wonder. All said and done I had to start from scratch all over again with all new information and no reputation.

Re: My account was hacked

The problem with this is that it's happening all the time and there is nothing you can do about it. There are no laws that protect you from people stealing your identity. You would think a large corporation like eBay, Facebook was mentioned or even Microsoft would have some kind of lock key protection for people like you, and me who have been taken advantage of.

Re: My account was hacked

Why? because Facebook has a free messenger service which is akin to Google's Gmail. There are over 180 million Facebook messenger users in the United States alone. You can reach most large companies customer service department via Facebook messenger service today.

By comparison there are less than 100 million land line users left in the US. Facebook's messenger service has almost twice many users. The number of landline users declines every year  but the number of Facebook messenger users goes up every year.

Also, Millennials and Gen Zer's  now make up most of the consumers in the US prefer to communicate by email, and text. They DO NOT prefer to call and speak with someone like us old farts.
