My First Item Not Received or Maybe Not?

I might have my very first buyer in years who did not received their item.

There is no tracking...just a standard envelope to Miami.

Just the you know kind of email to don't want to read before having coffee in the morning:

"Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that I have not posted feedback because your parcel has not arrived."

I don't get it...mailed Feb 26th...and now I get the email March 22d? Item not received.

It only takes 4-5 days to receive a standard letter usually...why the long wait to contact me?

So, very unusual : "estimated delivery date shown to buyer"...there is none on this sale...Why?

Why some items have a delivery date and others don't? I don't get that.

Of course I responded, "please open an eBay claim for a refund...it's my first item lost in years and eBay likes to see refunds to buyers and keeps track of refunds(A little lie?)."

I also mention to buyer they had given feedback to a seller:

"Seller promptly issued full refund after item lost in transit."

It is an apartment in a nice complex in Miami...I had to google the address.

Two days have past without a response from the buyer and I responded to buyer immediately when I got their email. I didn't block them...waiting for an email or something. Nothing!

Should I just give a refund?

Just a guess, but ... if your item did not have tracking, eBay would not know what service you used?

I have ordered things online that I completely forgot that I ordered. It was only when the item was delivered that I remembered buying it. If it did not arrive, I would only notice when I occasionally clean out my "things I ordered" folder in my email account. And some buyers actually give the seller the benefit of the doubt when an item does not arrive promptly and choose to wait a while longer.

Funny how perspectives differ. When a buyers files an INR right away, many on this board think it is suspicious. Now you seem to be suspicious when a buyer doesn't do that.  Maybe this is why eBay considers tracking to be such an important part of the process.

Most of my items without tracking have a delivery date...every now and then one doesn't.

Here's the thing...buyer has 30 days to open a claim...but there is no delivery date...so can buyer open a claim in any period of time?
