Multiple Item Sale Help

Greetings All:

I have a listing for mutiples of the same item & a potential buyer after a few emails on shipping prices has emailed that they want to purchase 2 items & for me to go ahead and invoice them for the 2 items & shipping to their location.

How is invoicing done if the buyer has not actually purchased the item first. I know I can invoice from PP directly, but that would make this an external Ebay sale & might void seller protection from a DNR, if buyer is dishonest.

What are the steps for a seller to proceed with this type of sale?

At this point, you can only give a shipping estimate/quote.  I'm assuming this is an international sale where shipping prices have to be determined.  If so, when the buyer buys the two items, then you invoice them.

(If this is a domestic sale, you should be able to set up the shipping to accomodate multiple quantities).

No, this is a domestic sale. The buyer has not purchased, but wants an invoice before purchasing (all costs are understood by the buyer), so I don't know how/if to proceed to submit an invoice w/o actual purchase.

@holmaneva-2, do you have "Immediate Payment Required" on the items this buyer wants to purchase?  If you do, there won't be an opportunity for you to send an invoice as the items will be immediately paid for once the person buys them...

I have no immediate payment requirement, so that shouldn't be a problem. Submission of the invoice w/o purchase is the puzzlement.

@holmaneva-2, you can't create an invoice for an order that doesn't exist (including if the buyer put the items in their cart.)  The buyer has to "buy" the item/s, once the order comes through then you can go in and create/send an invoice.  See: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-getting-paid/issue-invoice-combining-payments?id=4139

Okay. So, I should tell the buyer to purchase, don't pay & wait for an invoice, correct?

The shipping calculator will not give a discount any longer for multiple items that are the same. I just ran into this and had a sale of 2 of the same items and the calculator did not calculate the shipping for them. It only gives the price for 1 item no matter what. I called CS and spoke with a U.S. rep yesterday as I lost aver $10.00 on that sale in shipping costs. The rep and I spent about an hour and she tried to see what was going on as she could see it doesn't work. She asked her supervisor and that person could not get it to work either. She is supposed to get back to me today if she finds out what is going on with the calculator. The only thing her supervisor told her to tell me was to use fixed price shipping or Free shipping. This is just another way to force sellers into their Free shipping program.

There is another work around and that is only list with a single item. lol This will drive sellers away from this glitchy site when you lose money on shipping.

This did not work. There is no immediate payment requirement on the BIN listing, but the buyer has emailed "they can't seem to figure out how to purchase these without actually paying for them right away."

The buyer is not new to Ebay with 2000+ feedbacks w/ almost 1000 of them as a buyer.

What could be the problem that the buyer can't purchase without paying? And if no solution to the problem, what is a good work around to get the purchase completed?

Okay - 2 ways to do this.

1. Tell the buyer to add to cart then request a total and you can send the adjusted shipping invoice. eta: if they're buying on the app they can't get the request total so they'll have to use option 2.

2. As it's only 2 items tell them to send a question on each, use the make buyer an offer option on the reply. Tell them to accept the offer but do NOT pay, then you can send a combined invoice with the agreed shipping.

I think the solution is here: https://www.ebay.com/pages/br/help/pay/require-immediate-payment.html

"Immediate payment is automatically required on items priced below $1000, that have a specified shipping cost, and where PayPal is the only payment method offered. "

Do what I suggested (or not). I do it all the time (and it works)

Thanks for the help. Buyer has managed to sort out whatever their trouble was and has sent an invoice request. So the purchase should be on track now.
