Multiple Baskets

I've been reading posts in this community regarding the recent overall Ebay drop in sales. One group that I have seen responding are the people who rely heavily on Ebay for their income, but have managed to mitigate the drop in their sales through putting their eggs in multiple baskets. What I'm curious about is what those baskets are and if there is anyway people can share their experience with diversifying their means of selling their product.

It would be tacky and against the rules to discuss other selling platforms on ebay's site. However, Google is waiting for you with a Basket of information. Good luck.

Thanks. In retrospect that was not a very well thought out conversation topic I made.

There are too many to even begin listing, Much would depend on what you're selling, especially if you have a niche product.

Most, if not all, have been named on here before at one time or another.  Not really any great ones, just a little here and there type things.

There is one I absolutely love, no auctions and rhymes with the rum drink Bacardi sort of.

I have always been a one-basket seller. Perhaps I have maintained my sales here because I choose my eggs carefully.

In many ways, the on-line market for items has started to fragment into niches ... so there isn't a one size fits all solution like eBay used to be.

  • Used clothing has a couple of great options.
  • Antiques and collectibles have a couple of great options.
  • Crafts has one big and obvious one.
  • Musical instruments ... eBay has done their best to grab this market segment, but for used musical instruments there is one very popular go-to site (and eBay made a huge mistake by letting a competitor recently purchase it).

I used to be like you, until the rats got into my basket and ate all my eggs.  With every change the head rat made, my share of my eggs kept getting smaller and smaller.

Now i diversify.

The Rats won.
