I have a question for community..

I sold an item and I printed the shipping label from Paypal web, then dropped item in mail box.. I did as what webside said...

After couple weeks I checked where my mail came, It showed me mail still on post office with no trace of forward tracking...I came to post office and asked, Post said no receipt..??, they can't do anything to check my mail...?? So it was too long buyer can't receive his item,  So I have to refund.

Can Community give an advises in this case how I can advoid this same case in the future...?? Post blamed on me that I didn't sent item to post box..?? why I personnally dropped mail on mail box....?? .maybe post office lost my mail when post moving...?? I am in case they locked my hand  without complains..??

Problem is you have no proof that you actually mailed it.....  If you take the item to the counter, they will scan it in and IF YOU ASK, they will give you a receipt....which is proof they received the item.  Even if you have the receipt and the item is lost, you will have to refund the buyer as you are responsible for getting the item to your customer.   But with the receipt, you can file to collect the insurance, assuming the item has it...

Never just drop a package in a mail box or hand it to a postal carrier without getting an acceptance scan.   Anyone can print a shipping label and never mail the package so it means nothing.  A scan can be traced.  A learning lesson here.

Hi, i think you didn't get very good service from that PO. If you have a tracking number, they can check on the status of the package. You also have a PayPal receipt showing you purchased the postage. Most PO’s will assist a customer with lost mail, but i’ve seen lazy folks behind the counter who gripe when asked for an acceptance scan receipt, etc.

If you sent the package via Priority mail, there is an automatic $50 in insurance, $100 if you are TRS. So i’m confused why your PO didn't assist you in trying to locate the package.

I am very sorry about this. Here is some helpful advice for you for your future transactions. Do a search in your area and look for a shipping store that takes USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. They will help you pack your item and mail it out. AND they will give you a receipt as proof which you can use in the eBay case. I will give you an example. If I have small items, I usually print my lapel at home and use USPS. The item fits in my mailbox and I put the flag up. To this day 2020 and selling since 2017, I never had an issue with USPS and doing it this way. Not far from me, there is a USPS facility so if I am on the go, I pack up the order, print shipping label on eBay then while I run errands, take it to the postal facility. Get receipt. Save receipt so if buyer try's to file claim. eBay will help you.

Scenario 2: On larger items that my scale is too small for and/or don't have the proper packing materials, I list item with either shipping as UPS or FedEx. I take item to store with buyers shipping information. They tell me the postage cost and print out label and then give me receipt. I usually box my own items if I can so I don't get charged a packing fee. But I have been doing business with them for so long sometimes they don't charge me 😉 Hope this helps and remember, always get a receipt!
