Dropped 3 things at the Post Office yesterday but didn't have them scanned in. One got a scan last night and the other two still show label created and not in the possession of the PO yet. I just went to check and on of my orders is missing from "All Orders"! I can go to "Shipping Orders" and it shows there.
1 Why would an order be missing from "All Orders"
2 What's your system for getting your stuff scanned into the carriers system?
Thank you!

Don't sweat it. PO doesn't always update scans as fast as we would want. I dropped off two packages yesterday about noon and as of last night they hadn't been scanned as in their possession. This morning they have been processed through local distribution center and on their way.

I do not just drop off packages. I take the time to wait, see them scanned and get a receipt. Yes, it takes time but it is better than what happens if a package goes missing with no scan.

I used to do that too but I'm not waiting in line for a package that isn't worth much. I have had no problem doing this. Even if you do wait for them to scan it that doesn't mean it gets into the PO system right away.
The two packages I shipped yesterday were scanned immediately as I gave them to the clerk, but still didn't get into the system until this morning. I didn't need a receipt so didn't ask for one.

I hate to say this, but is it possible that you printed the second label twice instead of moving on to the third? Is it still showing as Ready to Ship on your Shipping Orders page?

If the front desk is open at the Post Office, I get the Acceptance scan at the counter. If it's after hours, I use the 24-hour lobby kiosk to scan in the label (technically, that's a Provisional Acceptance, as the on-screen disclaimer says, but eBay accepts it anyway) and then drop the package in the chute.

Went to the PO to drop off yesterday and their computer systems were down, told me to come back today. My guess is that the USPS computer systems are built on a 1980’s version of DOS

That package that "isn't worth much" can still do the same damage to your account that a package that is worth a lot, if it goes missing and you have no receipt. I always stand in line to get it scanned. No big deal.

At least parts of it appear to be built on Windows, but most likely what they lost was their network connection, rather than something affecting all the workstations simultaneously.
I remember a mini-meltdown a few years back that knocked a number of northwest suburban Chicago post offices offline for days when a regional data center had some sort of massive malfunction.
What was strange was that some towns were affected while others interspersed with them were not. That detail was actually helpful, because you generally only needed to go one or two towns away to find a PO that was still up and running.

I have not been inside the PO in years. My carrier picks up the packages from our house. She scans them immediately. If her sub is doing mail that day we make sure she is scanning them as well. At first the sub didn't want to do it. Once we explained to her that it MIGHT hurt our performance numbers she understood WHY we needed this done immediately.
One time the post master was doing a ride a long. I had about 30 packages, He told the carrier NOT to scan them. Lets just say they were scanned BEFORE they hit the back of the truck. Being a small town we are in the top 5 for shipping packages through his PO. I was not about to let this little man dictate to us how our shipping was going to handled.
Hubby said I was $itch hipping and turkey necking while I was talking to the boss. He said he was not going to get into it since I apparently had it under control. I really and super nice 😉

Just checked again and still no acceptance scan. I will be a nervous wreck till they get a scan.

This has happened to me many, many times.
If it puts your mind at ease, the next time the package gets scanned, somewhere along its route, it will show on the tracking.
I'll bet you a nickel. 😉

Not possible to print the same label. I do one at a time, leave feedback then move on the next "purchase shipping label" I dont sell that much so it's super easy to just do one at a time.
On to the second part of your comment! I was a postal employee for 27 years and never knew you could scan at the kiosk! I'll be using that on occasion! Thanks

I drop off about 10-15 packages every monday morning in the lobby chute. I usually do this half an hour before they are open
I do not care about scans as much as some sellers
come wed. I will get a few buyers who ask me when I am going to ship for the stuff that they paid for on Sunday ?
what can you say to a buyer when they ask this. "I shipped it on Monday"
the packages get a scan eventually but I might never know since I stopped caring about tracking
I like the workers at the post office and I am not going to harp about tracking
a lot of scans are not being made and I am halfway OK with it

The scanning at the kiosk is fairly new, last year some time.
I have multiple ways to insure I get a scan & have gone to great lengths, to the point that I text my carrier directly & he lets me know when he's going to be off, so I can make alternate arrangements. I also have a giant sign for the subs & when I drop off, I use the APC a lot. 2 Scans are absolutely imperative to protect yourself & retain your Dashboard ratings- the Acceptance & the Delivery. I do whatever I have to do, to insure I get both.

My house is on the route that I used to deliver. 3/1 was my first day of retirement. There are only subs that deliver and the scans are hit and miss here from the house now.
Carriers instructions are that they only have to scan in 10 barcodes on pickups. Most of us scan everything because it's the right thing to do. Postmasters are all about speed! If a carrier has a long day, management has to answer to their boss on why carriers were late. So all they care about is getting them back in the building as quickly as they can.
