Missing Mail Search vs Help Request Form regarding Mail Class

I'm about to file a Missing Mail Search. The package was sent Ground Advantage but the Help Request Form states it is First Class Mail which is incorrect.

So what service type do I choose when filing the Missing Mail Search, Ground Advantage or First Class? I wouldn't want any discrepancy to cause any further delay in USPS' part.

Thanks. Good to know that your most recent claims ended up to your benefit one way or another. I checked and did file a claim on another transaction in January and it got approved in 2 days days as well too.

I like your approach to calming down the buyer and buying yourself a few days. I'm going to steal that method, 😀. Thanks

Missing Mail Search vs Help Request Form regarding Mail Class

Okay so here's an interesting update on this. I filed the insurance claim on 3/17 for this. USPS approved the claim as of 3/19 and said a check is being mailed out. The buyer wanted a replacement and I was all ready to send it out but then this morning 3/20 I see that the package just got successfully delivered, lol.

So it's just a matter of time that the INR will close out in my favor. Am I still getting the check though I wonder? It's so weird that USPS gets a kick in the butt from that claim filing and delivers the item as well as approves the claim. @mamacassidy has this ever happened to any of your claims filed?

@iamalwaysright

I had a similar situation, but the in my case, I had already received the check (and refunded the buyer) when the item was delivered. The buyer contacted me and asked if they could make another payment, and I told them to just keep the item and consider it a gift from the USPS.

I have a feeling that you will still receive the check because their systems are mostly automated, and once the claim was approved, it just cuts a check and mails it out. Of course, this is just my guess, I don't know exactly how their processes work, but I can't see a person sitting there going through these one-by-one.
