Missing Feedback from Lazy Buyers

Do you think it would be fair if eBay automatically gives you a positive feedback rating if the buyer fails to leave the seller feedback after the cutoff period? I should be well over 5000 feedback but buyers just don't leave feedback sometimes and it's frustrating, are sellers supposed to beg buyers to leave feedback?

I feel like if I leave positive feedback for the buyer, if they fail to leave me any feedback by the cutoff that eBay should be giving me automatic positive feedback for that transaction.

Anyone else feel this way? Are people being lazy or is it just irritating leaving a seller feedback?

When thr OP said "lazy buyers" I think he meant "valued customer".

Yeah, I found that title disrespectful to buyers that send us money.   I didn't give any feedback on one of my last purchases--not because I was lazy.  I actually had to work pretty hard at not giving a negative.

Feedback isn't that important anymore.  Back before the MBG,  it served a limited purpose, but now,  not so much.

If a seller has 10 or less, then I can understand being anxious to get more, but surely not at 5000.

Selling some thing to me,  it means that I made a sale.  It also means that I get to keep the money.  Feedback is always welcome, but I never chase any one for it.  I rather post more stuff for sale.  Rinse and repeat.

Good luck on your selling journey!

Lazy?  They were not too lazy to find your listings, read them, decide to buy, step through the buying process, send payment, accept the items upon receipt without complaint.  But you judge and name-call because they don't, as one more benefit to you, leave feedback?

And be careful what you wish for.  Many buyers are sensitive to how feedback can affect a seller and are reluctant to leave neutrals and negatives even though they were not completely happy with the transactions or the items they received.   Push them, though, and insult them publicly and you may find you do suddenly get a lot  more feedback, and it may not be feedback you like.

In all honesty, I haven't looked at my feedback in a long time. I actually have no idea if it increases at all. I do look to see that it is at 100% but even that I don't pay much attention to. I just try to keep all my feedbacks positive when I do get them. Mostly I'm just happy when I get paid.

As a buyer or seller, I do leave feedbacks myself.

I just have to share what happened today.  My buyer didn't give us feedback on our account, but she was so happy with her purchase and how we packaged/shipped it that she wrote us a personal thank you note.  I must admit that was amazing to get in the mail today--so glad she was too "lazy" to give us feedback on the account that I wouldn't have even noticed.

This is a great idea, odd how ebay hasn't implemented this already, odd how posts disagree, if they don't leave negative or neutral, than it's a positive. Ebay should have takin initiative on this long ago to get each sale that is not negative or neutral a positive score, no brainer here.

Please explain what difference 4678 feedback would make to your life. Seriously, that one more feedback would be life-changing? I just don’t see it.

And this will encourage people who were reluctant to give a neutral or a negative to go ahead and do so.

Just because someone doesn't complain out loud by leaving bad feedback doesn't mean he's entirely satisfied with a deal.   But let some third party "assign" satisfaction to him and declare publicly that everything went just fine and he's happy, and, believe me, he will  complain out loud with bad feedback.

I buy a lot of hockey cards. Over the last month I received 2 cards that had undisclosed damage that I couldn't see in the pictures. Definitely not worth a positive feedback. The cards were under $10, so I didn't feel it was worth making a thing out of it. I just kept them and left no feedback. If I knew however, ebay would automatically leave positive feedback for these transactions on my behalf, I'd have to be proactive and leave a negative or neutral. I don't think anyone wants this scenario playing out every day.

as a new seller on Ebay, I really would like the boost my feedback,  but this tells me that they were happy with what they got, if there was a tiny reason why they were not happy you bet they'd be on there fast. so just let it go
