Ok so I recently sold a large costume jewelry lot..made an eBay shipping label, and dropped the package off at my local usps. The next day checked the tracking but it hadn’t yet updated..did this for several days but no updates..so I started to panic. After finally locating my receipt from the post office I noticed that I had accidentally re-used an older label. Tried to contact usps to affirm the package would most definitely be returned to sender as you cannot use a label more than once I found out this is exactly what has happened. I put in the old label tracking number and sure enough the package has been delivered to the address of a previous order. As that sale was also through eBay, and the individual a repeat buyer I had access to his info to reach out. Well big surprise, the individual is not responding or even acknowledging my message. I’m not sure what to do to recover this package..do I have any legal recourse? Will eBay step in and help, etc.?

Is this the $3000 jewelry lot?
You probably can't do anything to recover it, other than ask the person you sent it to in error to send it back.

Will eBay step in to help? No. It's your error; what would you expect them to do?
If the package was valued at more than $750.00, did you use signature confirmation? Have you tried to have the post office retrieve and return the package to you (if it hasn't been delivered yet)?

Sorry, if the other buyer won't respond to your messages, not much you can do but refund the buyer.
No, there's nothing Ebay will do.

@jes_1848 see if you can pull up the old order in your account. Sometimes there is a phone number to the customer on the invoice right under the address. Some buyers don't always look at their Ebay notifications. They might not know that you are trying to contact them. Calling is always faster and you can explain what happened. If they haven't open it yet don't mention what is in it. Make sure you tell them you will pay to ship it back to you. You can send them a label.
Always double check the label with the packing slip when you are packing items so you can make sure you are shipping to the correct person and the right item is in the box. Most of us learned that leson the hard way.
Make sure you are in contact with the new buyer and handle things before Ebay does.
Keep everything professional so think before you call.
Hope this helps.

It did have the required signature upon delivery with the correct label, however this was an old label. Not even sure how it was possible to use it again. And the package has already been delivered 😔
