I really wish Ebay would take a fresh look at how it is implementing the Federal ban on trade with Cuba. I understand that Ebay won't allow the sale of Cuban coins. OK, but why won't Ebay allow the sale of books about Cuban coins, particularly when such books were published long ago in the U.S.?
After all, a book sold by one American to another, or even to someone in another country, has really nothing to do with trade between the U.S. and Cuba. Ebay permits the sale of historical books on Cuban industries such as tobacco and sugar as well as current and antique travel books about Cuba. Ebay also permits the sale of current and older world coin books that routinely have sections on Cuban coins. And Ebay doesn't care whether these books are published in the U.S., Cuba or somewhere else because trade to and from Cuba is seldom at issue.
Now, Ebay allows the sale of Hitler's Mein Kampf after having banned it for years so I know that change is possible. Re-interpreting application of the Cuba ban to allow certain Ebay sales shouldn't need to wait for some cosmic geopolitical event if the rule never made a whole lot of sense in the first place.

They do? When did that happen? Why is it still on the prohibited list?

OP, do you know that for a fact that some sellers are listing that book anyways and just trying to fly under the radar.

Yes it would. We think that would be great. Its a shame it hasnt been changed yet.

The books listed are new reprints with a different cover and are not any kind of ebay violation...

Ebay superbot would be going against their prime directive doing anything that would prevent ebay from making money off a sale.

Why does a new reprint and cover make any difference when it is the same filth inside?

EbaySuperBot would pull it down after it's sold, so that they can keep the FVF's.

Good theory but generally speaking when eBay pulls a listing they refund any associated fees.

Is that the case for a sold listing when this happens after the item may have been paid for and already sent out to the buyer. And buyer and seller are happy.

Things of this nature make for a great debate with folks. I love these type of debates because I always hold the winning trump card.....

Thank your for bringing that up Georg. Now I am sorry I made a joke out of it.
