Messages about selling my old phone to ebay

Is Ebay in the business of buying used cell phones?  All I get are messages from them about selling my phone and seeing how much I can get for it.  No view and no sales.

You can sell your phone on eBay, but not to eBay.  If it's a newish iphone, sell it in person.

ebay is setting out lures to get buyers into thinking that they can sell their old cell phone on ebay for quick easy cash.

In theory it sounds like a good idea, but ebay fails to warn the new sellers about the scams, the rules, and the risks in doing so.  Just do a search on these boards for scam and cell phone and you should find several recent threads about how the new seller listed and sold their phone and now don't have the money or phone and are wondering what they can do about it.

I see those emails and ads as ebay trying to drive away their long term business, because that is all they succeed in doing.

Yes, you can sell your phone to eBay. It works through the eBay Valet program.

You describe your phone, and they give you a quote if it is eligible for the program. If you decide to accept, then you send the phone to the eBay Valet. As long as the phone matches the description you provided, then they pay you the money within 2 days, you don't have to wait until they sell it or take a chance on the selling price. 

Here's the page to describe your phone; if it qualifies, you can either list it yourself (with a price guarantee) or send it to the ebay Valet. That way, no worries or concerns about scam buyers.

Phones with cracks, water damage or any cosmetic or functional damage do not qualify.

If it a newer iPhone u have n they’re not offering at least $0.75 I know GameStop will offer $0.80 😉

I get them too, but my old phone is a "brick" as my son as told me from day one (1) LOL!  I sometimes get the notion to list it and see how much I would "owe" the buyer 😉 

Even if I had a "good" popular phone, I would not sell it here . . . too many scams to Seller
