I can no longer see the history of messages with a buyer -- and when I post a new message, only a few lines are visible.  This new format makes messaging extremely difficult whereas, in the past, that flaw did not exist.  eBay should return to their former Message Format for easy search by sellers and buyers.

The box in messages where we type in our messages is very small.  IDK why they did that, clearly there is a lot of open space above it and it wasn't necessary to make the box so small.  But everything you type in will transmit to whomever it is you are messaging even though you can't see the whole message in the little box.

As for the History of your buyer's message, look to the left side of the screen when you are in Messages.  You have options.  Click on the From Members option and see if you can get what you need from there.

Hi -- When I'm in Messages and I click on a member, the only option I have is to SEND a message.  There is no history shown of prior exchanges.  It's really designed very poorly.  I read elsewhere that one could toggle back to "classic" view -- but even that option no longer exists.  I really wish eBay would restore a more meaningful format for Messages.

Are you trying to view it on a phone or a computer? The interface is different for each, at least enough that it’s hard to give suggestions without knowing which.

Once again, I can only request that eBay return to its old message format.  Their change seems to be just for the sake of change -- but it is NOT an improvement.  It makes messaging into an acrobatic feat -- too hard to manage.

You can view messages normally by going to the Messages page, and viewing your entire conversations there. This may be more useful to you than clicking the "message" button in your orders.

You can navigate here by going to the "My Ebay" menu at the top right of the page, and choosing "Messages" near the bottom.

Try clicking on the first line of the message rather than the username to see the full message displayed.

If you do not like the message inbox format, use the "Updated Messaging Feedback" link in the lower right to express your opinion to eBay.

If you have messages from members forwarded to your email inbox, you may find it easier to read and respond to messages via email directly.
