May 2017 sales down?

What is going on!!

We had a great first few months of the year. But starting May 1 our sales just died!!  The first two weeks were pretty slow. The third week was awful. Like dead in the water! Last week wasn't really much better. I've talked to a few other eBay sellers and it seem like the ones in my local area are in the same boat.   I plan on sitting down today and looking at some listings that should've sold quickly and they did not. And doing a comparison between TY vs. LY sales.  We sell mainly toys. Didn't know if it was just the toy industry part  or eBay sells as a whole.

Maybe you and some others here should quit trying to 'help' eBay management because if they are following what you say in chats it is no wonder the company is going down the tubes.

We should just agree to disagree.  I respect your right to your opinion and your right to post here.  Twisting what other say to suit your needs just isn't productive and serves no helpful service to anyone nor does the lack of being specific.  General comments without support are not really useful.  With that said, I wish you well with your sales and your experiences on Ebay.  I hope only good things come your way.

So posting the truth and links to what other sellers say is twisting the truth ??

You know eBay sent me an email wanting me to join their 'think tank' a while back, but I see no use in all that, if they can't read the forums to find out what sellers are thinking, they are wasting time, I'm not getting paid to help eBay 'improve' the marketplace, I'm not on the payroll, so I see no need to provide free management help to the company.

If they want free help, all they have to do is read this forum and use the brains God gave them to chart a better future for the company.

That starts with responding to what sellers are posting on this very forum.

There just doesn't seem to be any way to talk to you.  I said NOTHING about other sellers.  You took some SPECIFIC things I SAID and took them out of context or otherwise misrepresented what I said.  That is SPECIFICALLY what I was referring to.

That is a false claim, readers can determine that simply by reading the posts in the thread.

Yeah, it is a new direction, Google is directing traffic to those who are PAYING THEM FOR TRAFFIC.

Been going on for at least 5 years now, so it is not so new, but eBay is running TV ads on Lebron James day to solve the problem !!!

Is this new for eBay to be running TV add's?  Think your right about google...many times when I put google in my brower my service provider has a message google not responding...!  I've noticed this more often...

If you are getting messages that Google isn't responding, you have a different kind of issue you need to research.

Back in the early spring of 2014, Ebay got in trouble with Google for spamming, at least what Google defined as spamming.  So they lowered Ebay stuff in the searches.  While it took awhile it is my understanding that problem was fixed a long time ago.

Kind of like when you take my use of the word "rampage" and suggest I meant anger... 🙂

The person mentioning UPC was just using it as an example of incompetence on eBay's part.

Not good sales are down. But good to know it's not just me. I don't understand how so many items can be sold for so little with free shipping. Ebay suggested that I upgrade my store, but that's a dumb thing to do with sales down. Sales totally diminished when I let them know I wanted to go monthly instead of yearly. I put things on sale, offer free shipping. Would really like to see more traffic, shouldn't have to pay xtra for it. I don't have enough items nor enough sales to warrant a larger store. It looks like foreign items occupy the search engine and have priority. This may not be a chanel for small business anymore.

"I meant if I listed it for the .99 eBay swears will bring more buyers, the final sale almost always ended for .99. Not the price I would have wanted. "

Don't be persuaded by ebay to start at 99 cents, but i have found auctions to be very successful in the past, especially if doing groupings of items or somewhat unique collectibles. But it can work with commodities as well. the trick is that you start the auction at the price you feel comfortable getting for the item. Sometimes I look to see if my item is listed on the site, and if it is, I will beat the price -- if I am still making a profit. But I won't list as the lowest on ebay if that means I'm taking a loss. My take is that I do NOT offer free shipping (usually) and so I am always willing to combine shipping. That makes my auctions more competitive for the person who wants to buy more than one item.

I had four Chinese sellers never ship anything ever...in past sales to me, in the last 6 months....they just figure the low sale price of 1 to 2 dollars for each item, that buyers will never care to complain....that's how they make 20 thousand dollars from one item sales to non complaining USA buyers. I have seen it. I complained---it was the worst refund experience ever !

I noticed search engine shows very few listings, and no more advertising lower priced similar or equal items on sellers pages.

Ebay feels it cnstantly has to be tweaking with the search on other things, it does not promote stability. You never see amazon tweaking with it's format so much, not listings. It just so OCD and i hope they get punished for not sticking with what works.
