Massive USPS shipping delays?

Just a quick poll

Is it only me or are there others experiencing chronic shipping delays?

I notice it now, especially for the South East and PR regions

I suspect it will get worse in other regions soon too. 

This is a big deal to me.

I have had more problems with incoming packages to St Louis, then outgoing ones. Incoming seem to bounce between the distribution center and sorting center and then when they finally head towards my Post Office they usually go to the wrong one and then we start the dance all over again.

Postmaster DeJoy has things extremely messed up and again was in front of congress this week having his feet held to the fire. Hopefully he gets replaced soon and someone else comes in to clean up the mess he has created.

That is most likely your problem, honestly. GA goes where space is available since it is not a priority service like Priority Mail. If there is no space left on a truck/plane, the packages will end up waiting until there is space.

I think you're thinking of Media Mail, which can remain at each waypoint for up to three days before it must go out on the truck to the next facility. There is no such space-available lenience for Ground Advantage, although Priority is supposed to get there first. (I've been shipping lots more GA than Priority now that both offer the same $100 insurance, so I can't say how much faster Priority really is, though.)

I assumed it was the same on that front as Parcel Select, which AFAIK had similar "space-available" policies and that's why it was slower and cost less than Priority.

I have a package bound for Alabama which is now three days behind schedule.

I messaged the buyer a heads up, just to be proactive.

I mailed my tax package to my accountant  on March 30 via USPS Priority Mail. He lives in the next county about 32 miles from here. Following the tracking was like watching the silver ball in a pinball machine. He finally got the package 17 DAYS LATER. A case where Priority Mail is not a Priority.

I just had 2 more sent to the wrong states, this is getting really old. Also having major delays going thru Jacksonville FL, Post master responded to my missing mail request. We will look for you package but doubt we'll find it and added "its lost best to file a claim in 10 days".

 They can't even deliver their own mail, I orders boxes  back in April and they've been sitting in IL since April 26th, so I order 3 more set of boxes 3 weeks ago, I got one Saturday, the other 2 are still waiting to ship.

The South is really slowing down

It looks like I'll have to resend another set of rack pads to a customer in LA who's been waiting 15 days

On the other hand,  I did receive prompt payment on a insurance claim

Which surprised me.

I ordered some USPS shipping supplies on April 15th.

They were shipped Ground Advantage.

Still not here.

One month for Ground Advantage?

I sure am glad my GA shipments don't take a month!

I would be in some major hot water!

I honestly think because it's free USPS supplies, it goes slower than normal GA.

Might check tracking and see where their at, I order boxes and their stuck in IL since April 26th, I actually had to send a mail inquiry email on the USPS, you can't send a missing mail request on USPS mailings. I order again on May 1st and they still haven't been even shipped yet.

UPDATE:  just getting ready to file an insurance claim and the package showed up and delivered today.

Yes, your right. More USPS packages & mail taking longer then it use to.I see more tracking of packages going wrong directions before eventually being corrected & arriving late.I now have a package I ordered (ground advantage) on April 22 that went up to ...Alaska. Now tracking shows it is slowly coming back from there.Maybe I will eventually receive it(seller already refunded me & I told him I was willing to wait longer).This is becoming more of a problem & not just for buying & selling on Ebay. A sign of the times sadly.
