Massive Stop to Sales

Hey Everyone! I love eBay and have been selling like crazy for the past 6 months when suddenly I noticed a small slow down at the beginning of last week and an abrupt stop in sales the last two days. Seems odd for this time of year and too coincidental to just be that people don't happen to be buying right now. Seems more like a system or platform problem and I was wondering if anyone was seeing a similar problem with their stores? This seems to happen occasionally and didn't know if there was something you do to shake things up on your end? Thanks for the time I know this is a busy time of year for everyone!

Massive Stop to Sales

It's because of the changes they have made to categories and search.  As usual, ebay is fixing what's not broken until it's so badly broken it can't be fixed in their desperate clamor to be the next Amazon and ignore what made eBay, eBay in the first place.

Occasional slow sales are normal .  You're not doing anything wrong.  It's not ebay's fault.  It's not the alignment of the planets.   It happens to all of us.

Continue to list. Continue to sell. Continue to offer good service. Things will pick up.

Part time seller here.  I had a rare 0 sales day earlier this month. My sales are up from the past month.

Massive Stop to Sales

The media is reporting a massive increase in "In-person" sales.     I'm hearing that locally Walmart and Target are very busy.    The Christmas rush has already started.

Any dollars spent at B & M stores are not being spent on eBay.

The media is also preaching to not wait if you see what you're looking for.   With the backlog

of containers and trucking if you don't buy it today,    You might not buy it at all.

All of that I think would make some potential buyers reluctant to take a chance on buying online .

Personally,    My sales have been down since Early July to the tune of minus 44%   No idea why.   No idea how to fix it.         But,    I am seeing some recovery.     So far November is up about 20%  from October.   Might be because I made about 300 new listings.      Being pro-active always helps.

As always,     Your mileage may vary.

Ebay has a lot to do with the slow down.  Making major changes in the fourth quarter has slowed down a lot of activity.  The search engine is so screwed up that if I try to find my own items, I have to jump through hoops. I have been selling on here for 20 years so I know how to create a proper listing.  Your sales are up 55.4%. You are selling 2 and 3 dollar items.

Just two days is not a measure of anything.

You can credit the incompetent people at ebay who thought the changes to categories would be a good idea.  Lets combined 4 very large categories into one, then we will add several irrelevant item specifics so sellers now have even more tedious things to do. They made some very big changes without ever considering the impact the changes would have. These changes also drastically changed search results too. If enough people contact ebay they have been known to reverse things when they realize it was a big mistake.  Every single seller I have had contact with in the jewelry category has noticed a big drop off in sales since mid October.

I think it has to do with the economy and the fact that everyone is paying double for everything from the year before. It is only going to get worse, because those in charge right now are deliberately trying to destroy the system.

I've had some success taking everything down and immediately relisting.  If your always adjusting to environment.  Things will be just fine.

Ebay pulled this stunt awhile back in the clothing category and it was a disaster.  Many sellers had listings deleted and many of the specifics that had already been filled in were deleted. Ebay did this in the fourth quarter too.  One would think that ebay would learn from their mistakes.  It would be  a smarter move to make these changes in the summer when things are not as busy.

This has happened to me as, well, since the Category changes. I barely am even getting views anymore, let alone watchers. I went from selling 2 to 3 of my items per week, to I've only sold one item in 30 days. I appreciate that eBay exists, but this change has hurt me, and Im not sure what to do.
