Markdown manager update! I changed all prices yesterday, are you kidding.

So because our sales have been 35% of usual since the stupid 14 day sale rule went into effect, we adjusted all of our prices down yesterday. I knew it wouldnt do much but didnt want to sit on my hands. We were losing 2/3 of our sales so why would I?

I wake up to see a paragraph post by ebay saying vaguely that we can put our items on sale if the prices havent been changed.  I put my entore 4900+item store on sale and 17 freakin items.

So now I have to wait 14 days to run a sale for being proactive..

Happy to have it back if thats what its really saying but, the fact that we cant change our prices is still dosconcerting. I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday trying to solve all kinds of problems including being opted out of my store subscription without my knowledge when I was given a credit for issues last year. That credit last year, I had to call to get the entire credit a month later, then 8 months later find out they unenrolled me by giving me that credit. I get credited for that mistake yet have to re-enroll instead of continuing on the timeline I already opted into. Thats how a problem gets fixed.

To find out I can put my store on sale as long as I wasnt proactive and spent time yesterday adjusting prices is just another kick in the face. That means I get to sit and wait two weeks with low sales because of some poorly made change and a poorly "rolled out" resolution for that change.

Happy 4th ebay!

Now, I just checked my Sale Event Status Report on my Seller Hub and the 131 items that I put on sale today, after this markdown fiasco change, and they are all on sale as desired, but when I go to my store site nothing has changed on those 131 items, they are all still full price. Too bad my customers can't access my Seller Hub and buy from there. Sheesh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 sales in 3 days. We do more than that everyday typically.  Im thinking of just putting the store on vacation, as staying tethered to everyday shipping for a 2-3 packages isnt worth staying home and having to have our pickups. Ive had 2 cancelations also.   This is crazyness.

Anyone have any idea what eBay's logic is with this 14 day wait thing??

Google 'phantom markdown lawsuits'.

Basically, companies are putting up items on 'sale' for X price and stating that it's reduced from Y price, when in fact it was never offered at Y price. There are quite a few class action lawsuits right now about this. There are a lot of sellers on eBay who do the same thing. They will list something and immediately put it on sale at 25% off, etc. I believe eBay is trying to avoid being caught up in the 'phantom markdown' claims by forcing sellers to offer items at full price before allowing them to be put on sale.

Thats not the reason.  Even if it were, its punishing all sellers for what afew newer merchanidise sellers do.  I can put my store on at any price as there exists no msrp anywhere close to this decade.  My $400-500 hubs had an msrp of $79.95 in 1981 when they were readily available.
