Markdown Manager still randomly skipping items that should qualify for a sale.

I started an All Inventory sale this morning at 3:30am PDT and Markdown Manager put 1018 items on sale out of 1183.

I only had ~16 new items listed within the last 14 days so I was not expecting those to be added to the sale and they were skipped. No pricing on the other items had been changed within the 2 week time frame.

I created another sale later 2 hours later and manually went through the 1183 listings and checked off the items that were not added to the original sale and launched that sale. MM put an additional 147 items on sale, that were skipped for no apparent reason by the 1st sale……

Just an fyi that Promotions, using a sale via Markdown, is still buggy and a PITA.

There are other reasons they can be skipped.........did you make ANY changes to them?

I changed shipping terms on just about everything to Same-Day Handling on June 13th.  Nothing else was changed.

My point is that MM, Promotions Manager, Sale Event (whatever they are calling it) skipped 147 items the 1st time around this morning at 3:30amPDT and then went ahead and put them on sale 2 hours later when I manually went in and selected each skipped item and put them in an addtional sale.

What are these "other" reasons that you speak of?

There should be no other reasons, you can change anything in the listing except for the price. Once you change that price the 14-day timer starts all over again. I even confirmed with CS because we’ve been updating some descriptions and our skus.

There have been many site issues of late.

I appreciate you sharing, because I've been hesitant to start a sale through Promotions Manager until I know more about what the new policy really is and that any gliches have been resolved. So far I've seen reports that new listings have to wait 14 days to be added to a sale and others say 7 days. Some say any revisions on existing listings start the clock again, some say only a price change. Does anyone know what the "bleep" the new policy requirements and restrictions really are or where to find them on eBay? Boy, am I getting tired of asking that question.

I love how you still call it Markdown Manager... oh how I miss that system that pretty much ran flawlessly. It's like ebay can't stand it when something runs as it should and throws wrenches in the system.

Brian Burke posted this link during one of the discussions,  info about skipped at the bottom of the page.......

I am picking up a little here and a little there on the details, though at this point I think I can make it work. It would be super, duper, pooper nice if they could post the complete process documentation at the top of this board.  Though........ I would be certain that anything related to Sale Event would be a "living document" which can/will be changed on the fly. Or perhaps it is being fertilized and watered as I write this......

Another poster added this link with some decent info

LOL, "fertilized and watered."  Touché. I saw the link above and went there hoping to actually see details on the new policy requirements and restrictions. Sadly, very, very little was offered in that regard. You're probably right, eBay doesn't want to commit to revealing details about the changes since they want to keep it fluid for now. They should just say that. I think I'd respect that more than them trying to keep everything so mysterious. Makes them look incompetent.

Not sure if this will be of any assistance, but. . ..

After several weeks of experiencing exactly the same thing as you have mentioned, after eBay dropped the "new and improved Markdown Manager" on us,  I accidentally clicked on the "End date" icon (at the right side of the item selections page) -- and VOILA!!! all of a sudden ALL the listings showed up -- not just the items which "Markdown Manager" had selected for me.  So, I made my markdown selections, clicked on the rest of the appropriate buttons, and ALL of my selected markdowns were correctly exhibited.

Been doing that now for a couple months -- no problems.  Hope that helps.

Update:

Markdown Manager only missed 3 items that should have qualified for the sale I started this morning. The 3 items did not meet the "Minimum". I am not for sure why the minimum was not met as I have hundreds priced above and below those particular items.

Definition of Minimum:

SKIPPED: Minimum = Your markdown didn't meet the minimum discount.

It also skipped ~32 newly listed items I put up within the last two weeks, as expected.

1165 out of 1168 were successfully marked as "sale" items.

I am thinking that I can live with that performance. At least the ball is consistently rolling once again........

Too bad for eBay that they initiated the Markdown Manager changes during the last week of their financial quarter. Between that and the photo debacle, I wonder how many "earnings points" it cost them on the 2nd quarter reports? 1 or 2 points I would suspect, but who is to ever know.......
