Is Managed Payments a good deal for a seller? Are there any drawbacks?

The only drawback is it takes a couple days for the funds to hit your checking account.
Other then that, it's fine.

Not a good deal or a bad deal.
So far about the same.
Takes longer to get $ in your bank account than PayPal account but all fees are already removed before the deposit is made.
Not sure about drawbacks but if you continue to sell there isn’t a choice so it’s MP or nothing.

Great deal for eBay they collect upfront why the seller waits for funds. Less funds for sellers to work with and grow their business. But who cares about the backbone of America........small business

Thank you for your responses. I have one more question. Will we be paying ebay for the shipping rather than paypal?

We always paid eBay for shipping... it just came out of the PayPal account.
Now you can have it taken from "pending" funds.
At the bottom of the shipping form area is a box to check to switch to pending funds for payment.

By the end of this year it will be the only deal for eBay sellers.
That aside ...
I like the fact that the fees are deducted immediately and the money deposited in my bank account every week is all mine (returns are not an issue for me). So I like not needing to keep track of a monthly invoice and do mental math to figure out how much I made.
But I don't like that the fees are slightly higher.
I use weekly payouts, and so I have no issue with the payment processing time because eBay has never failed to give me exactly what I was due each week. But for some sellers on this board, having to ship before hte money is in their bank account offends them so much that they claim they will quit because of it.
So whether there are "drawbacks" is really down to your opinion.

I have always paid eBay for the shipping.
In the past I paid for my labels using PayPal funds, but in Managed Payments I pay for them using my Managed Payments balance.

Managed payments may be better than having your bank account hit once a month for seller fees- you have to keep enough $ in your bank account to cover what you estimate they'll be, right?

If you're flat broke then yes, you have to wait a few days to get paid and grow your business.
If you have some cash reserves, like any good business should, the few days doesn't really matter.

It would be nice if they offered some sort of micro-payment like Pay Pal did for transactions smaller than $10. But no complaints so far.
