I bought what Ebay was selling and signed up for managed payments at the beginning. A couple months down the road I've had my seller rating downgraded due to a drop in sales and I found out today that because I was enrolled in the Global Shipping Program when I opted in to managed payments, ALL international buyers were receiving "Blocked" messages when they tried to purchase my items. Two CSR's helped me to get to the bottom of this and when I was sent to managed payments to opt out, the rep took 2 minutes to review the 1 hour's worth of tech support and told me they were wrong and that it had nothing to do with managed payments (she indicated that they didn't know this because they don't work in the managed payments department.) I promptly opted out of the program and am hopeful it didn't do too much damage to my business and that I can get back on track with PayPal soon. Sellers beware... I feel abused and taken advantage of.

I don't think your statement is true. My daughter just lost her CITI credit card and CITI credited all the unauthorized transactions back to the account. In fact Paypal provide protection because no mater what Paypal said buyer can still get their money back when they talk to their credit card company.

Buyers like using Pay Pal because they have pretty good buyer protection.
With all the fraud on Ebay now days, buyers won't want to buy if they can't pay with Pay Pal.
By the time they switch everyone over, Paypal will be available in MP. Their projected time to include Paypal was to be this summer, but I understand that they are adding it now.

With all due respect, I don't really see it as apples and oranges. I see it as you can't do it, period. No international sales. I'm sorry you didn't know.

I hope you haven't permanently lost that business. You could let the one who contacted you know that you are not in Managed Payments anymore, but you don't know who else may have got that message.
Maybe you could put something in your description going forward to let your foreign buyers know that the situation has changed. Just a thought.
Actually they should be able to see that you are no longer in Managed Payments by looking at what payments methods you can now accept; so something in your description is not really necessary, but it might make some more aware of the situation.

If you feel abused and taken advantage of NOW .... just wait until the early opt-in bonus rates end, and the real Managed Payment rates kick in ...... if a buyer buys 5 items from you, and he pays for those 5 items with ONE PAYMENT, you are going to be charged a Transaction Charge on ALL 5 of those listings, plus the 2.7% on the total payment !
That is totally outrageous !

I ENDED ALL MY AUCTIONS WHEN THEY SENT ME AN INVITATION LAST WEEK TO JOIN MANAGED PAYMENTS. LIKE ALL EMAILS FROM EBAY OVER THE LAST YEAR OR TWO YOU ALMOST HAVE TO SEND IT TO YOU LAWEYER AND ACCOUNTANT TO UNDERSTAND IT. AFTER READING BETWEEN THE LINES I DECIDED THIS DOES’N’T LOOK GOOD. I HAVE BEEN SELLING ON EBAY FOR 20 YEARS AND I CAN’T BELIEVE THAY ARE DOING THIS TO PAYPAL I DON’T BUY ONLINE UNLESS YOU ACCEPT PAYPAL IT’S FAST AND EASY AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. EBAY DIFFERENT STORY IF I WASN’T RETIRED AND DIDN’T HAVE THE TIME TO DO THIS I WOULD HAVE DITCHED EBAY ABOUT 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY STARTED RUNNING THIS TRAIN OFF THE TRACKS.

You may find this of interest...
I AM UNABLE TO OFFER GSP ON ANY OF MY ITEMS DUE TO (I AM IN) MANAGED PAYMENTS!
I had to change ALL of my shipping policies because of this.
Yes, it keeps giving me the disclaimer of how "soon this we shall look into" but I've been waiting over 6 months now and have had little hope this will ever change since the first day I saw it.

At my age that's right around the corner, I mean 6 months from now to me is like a wake up and a week later we're there.

It is very frustrating, that is all I will say

Yep, eBay executed a poorly conceived, poorly thought out process that has caused me to go from 30% above last year on May 1, to now 40% below last year, as of 1 Aug.
shame on eBay!

Ruined the whole Feebay experience!. I'm done after being charged to refund a customer!
