Making buyers open an Item Not Received case through eBay cuts Buyers claims

A few months ago I decided to stop refunding buyers directly through Pay Pal for items not received and now ask them all to open a case through ebay for Item Not Received.

I have noticed that quite a few buyers will not do this - maybe because they are trying it on -and one even got nasty and rude when asked to do this and for some reason refused to but went via the Pay Pal route instead.

I think all sellers should now do this as maybe it while highlight the ones that are possibly ripping us off on a regular basis, it will save you money on some of the claims too.   After all if they do claim ITEM NOT RECEIVED and do it through the proper channels you will at least get the final value fee back  It would be nice if ebay would let us tick a box somewhere when and how often buyers claim for item not received.

I wonder if this is still true.  I haven't seen anyone complain about this for quite a while .... eBay's policies mention that we only get a defect if the PayPal case is closed without seller resolution.
