Please make all offers that buyers send binding offers.
I’ve had numerous unpaid items. Defects on their account don’t matter if it’s a one or two time offense, whereas a seller I receive a multitude of these and have no recourse to *prevent* it from happening.
Other competitor platforms like Grailed and Poshmark do this. I have had exactly 0 issues with unpaid items there because of their policy.
This promotes buyer satisfaction since they’re more inclined to ask all questions up front. It empowers sellers to reliably move inventory and not deal with their items unavailable to other potential buyers.
Thank you for consideration.

There's nobody from eBay here... only other buyers and sellers. So your lucid request will go unnoticed...
For what it's worth, eBay now has some buyers (beta program and we don't know which buyers) enter information that will verify immediate payment through the method they've chosen. It doesn't apply to all buyers, yet.
As far as the deadbeats you've experienced, the best thing for all sellers to do is to cancel the orders on Day 5, citing 'Buyer didn't pay'. This gives the deadbeats an Unpaid Item strike (and put them on many sellers' radars) and frees you up to relist.
Nonpayers are truly a headache... we sellers empathize.

As a seller, it's a really good idea to read and understand the seller updates issued by eBay at least twice a year.
Both the 2022 Winter Seller Update and 2022 Spring Seller Update announced eBay's plans to roll out just the kind of process you've described.
Seller updates may be viewed by hovering over the "Seller News" heading toward the top of this screen and following the dropdown to the appropriate update.

This is incorrect also. Any seller can block a buyer who has received two strikes within the last 12 months (the most restrictive setting).
You may set your block(s) on this page under "Buyer Requirements:"

You can help yourself and other sellers by giving every single non-paying customer a non-payment strike on his/her account every single time.
You may process cancellations for non-payment after four full days have passed (on day five). You may do this manually or set your preferences for eBay to cancel unpaid transactions automatically.
Read about what you can do to help yourself and others in this regard:

One way to deal with non-payers, besides setting your Buyer Requirement blocks (which all sellers should), is to not accept offers and set listings as fixed-price with Immediate Payment Required. This way no buyer can take an item off the marketplace unless they pay for it. I have all my listings set up this way. Avoiding auctions and Best Offer will cure the problem if fixed-price will work for your listing strategy.

Lol, you realize best offer will give you literally 75% more sales or more right? Most people just want to say they got a deal and will accept an offer for a couple bucks off or 5-10 % less. It’s a psychological thing for most. They just want to win in their mind. But hey, I don’t like giving secrets.

This doesn’t exist anymore, ebay feels it is more inept of receiving positive buying results by not defecting a customers account even for nonpayment of one or two items.

Wow no kidding!
You mean i can increase my sales 75% just buy accepting best offers?
Thanks for the info!

You've got to be kidding, right? Where did you come up with that one?
You're wrong. I've noticed some of your responses have been questionable, but this one takes the proverbial cake. 🎂

Then I guess I am just special, or I know how to follow procedures and policies so nothing affects me. It’s the same on amazon Walmart Etsy. I don’t get scammed, I get all my money back, and don’t receive negative feedback. I guess i just know all the policies to a “t” to make sure my business is protected.

They used to send a message after the 4th day saying we have given back the fvf portion of this sale and put a mark against this customer or whatever. But for the last few months, it is not that way anymore. Then I read ecommercebytes and found the article where it stated eBay doesn’t want to put a mark against the customer anymore because it needs business bad for the quartet stock reports. They need gains. Remember in the end it is all about making sure the shareholders are happy.

Again, what makes you think that?

Please provide a link to that article on ecommercebytes as soon as you possibly can. I'd really like to read that "source" material.

As said, if you make the listings fixed price with Immediate payment required........that will stop non payers......
If you want to take offers and get an acceptable one...........decline the offer, with the message that you will lower the price to whatever the offer was for 8 hours( time is your choice).......and then lower it.........being sure you have immediate payment on the listing. That way the buyer will have to pay when they buy.........
