Does anyone know if eBay plans to make an announcement and cover sellers who are affected by Winter Storm Grayson? I know eBay usually does, but often the announcement is already in place by now. And it can't be weather on eBay's end...seeing as they're in CA.
I've already received a couple of Fed Ex service emails and one from UPS. Yoo hoo, eBay!
Just thought I'd post, maybe a pink will wander by.

I would hope so. As you say, they have so in the past.
Have USPS, FedEx and UPS put up advisories? I did not check today, and I would expect the timing to be similar.

Yup. UPS has them on their website (just looked) and I've received several fed ex email notices today.

In RI and Mass while the governors have not issued states of emergency, they are warning everyone to stay off the roads.
So I doubt there will be any mail delivery tomorrow.

eBay's first announcement about Hurricane Harvey did not come until the day it made landfall in Texas. Given that, I can't imagine them making a pre-emptive announcement about a winter storm bringing five inches of snow.

Hi, there, I understand your concern, and good point about an announcement.
Oh, and they are called blues now. They haven't been pinks for a long time!

Could you help with this request, please? You lucky guys are in sunny CA, but the East Coast is supposed to be pummelled by this storm!
Don't mind me~~I'm just sour grapes and ready for Spring...brrrrr!
Thank you!

Well, I think the most important thing they could do is extend seller protection, like they did on account of the wildfires in SoCal. This winter storm is going to affect a much, much larger area and it's going to impact mail delivery more severely.

Actually in my area it is 8 - 14 inches.
But it is not just the snow, they are predicting white out / blizzard coditions with a strong likelihood of power failures.
Combine that with the cold, it will be minus temperatures.
And they are warning us that the bucket trucks cannot go up until the winds go below 40 miles an hour - and that may not happen here for a couple of days,

Winter storms are NOT named.
It's a snow storm in the northeast, with a limited area of possible Blizzard conditions. It's January. Why would there be an announcement of any kind?

This is the response the ebay twitter gave me last year when I asked the same question:
If the post offices are closed due to a weather event we normally make an announcement, or if there's a natural disaster, that kind of thing. We can't guarantee that there would be a 'pass' in all situations, which is why the requirement has the 10% buffer. Should something like this happen in the future the biggest thing would be to reach out to us, let us know and take a look at the situation, and also reach out to any buyers that are impacted - an informed buyer tends to be a lot more lenient with delays in shipping. Finally, if it's a multiple day scenario or something that is a massive impact in addition to getting protections in place for you we'd want you to adjust your handling times to reflect the anticipated down time, or considering ending your listings (or putting them on a vacation hold with your store subscription). Thanks for your questions today! ^TL

Someone should tell the weather channel then.

^^ That's a tabloid using a publicity stunt. They are NOT an official source of anything.
Winter Storms are NOT named. Only Tropical Cyclones are named and that is done by an official entity:
Since 1953, Atlantic tropical storms had been named from lists originated by the National Hurricane Center. They are now maintained and updated through a strict procedure by an international committee of the World Meteorological Organization.
Lists of names for other tropical cyclone basins outside of NHC responsibility can be found on the World Meteorological Organization tropical cyclone naming page .

@colorful*things Not sure if the storm is big enough for them to take the time to type a message and post it ... but that's the easy part ... the other part is them determining ALL Sellers who would be impacted in the northeast region. So far so good here in south PA ... lots of wind but only an inch or two of snow so far ... north of us is supposed to be worse.
