These drug posts are ridiculous.

"These drug posts are ridiculous."

Report Inappropriate Content --
by clicking the down arrow inside a circle, in the top right corner of the ridiculous post.
Say something like -- "Promotes sales on websites other than eBay."   "Possible dangerous drug sales."
Even "Repetitive Post."

The multiple posts here in the Selling Community that say in their titles "Adderall Buying Tips."
("FB" in toomuchstuff's title refers to eBay Feed Back, not Facebook or any other F.B.

@redmodelt

This morning there were at least 20 of them in all categories of the forum, all new members stating they could sell you prescription drugs without a prescription which is a felony.   All the types of drugs that make you high.  They were all registered in the US, but my guess is they were in China or some other country.  I must have reported them for about 2 hours.  Many others did as well.  Every time one was taken down another one appeared.  I agree with @toomuchstuffagain35 concerning FB.  It may curb these very dangerous posts.  I also think khoros should monitor this forum 24/7 but you know that's not going to happen.

Happy Selling and Have a great day

Added link to other post about this that I just found.

I am still going with; if someone is going to post, at least make an actual post that is related to what it is about.

Requiring a minimum feedback score would defeat one of the main purposes of the Community, which is to help clueless newbies.

My suggestion is better moderation. If we can't have 24-hour response coverage, please at least start earlier in the day.

It would also be helpful to be able to report a post without even opening it.

And here's a "Thank you" to the board members who take the time to add tags when they report a post, so the rest of us know that this has been done.

Good suggestions. I wonder if 24 hour monitoring would cost eBay more since we don't know what kind of a contract they have with the provider. There needs to be a way to cut them off at the pass so they don't even get the chance to post anything. I remember back when we were seeing all those ladies of the night post every morning I created a community only ID just to see what was asked for it ... it wasn't much but hopefully after that experience with all those posts eBay and their provider tightened up the requirements to create a posting ID.

Back in the Live World Days of the boards there was a minimum 10 FB before you could post to the boards.

Agreed

"My suggestion is better moderation."

My suggestion - hear me out - is to make the pre register to bid/buy/offer deal mandatory for all new registrations. Unless told by friends/family 'good' people signing up wouldn't know it a new requirement, and 'baddies' wouldn't enter real info and thus not 'get in'

As ebay rarely pulls back from something new - they may stop pushing it, like the new message page, but it's still there - the needing to pre register isn't going away. They may stop asking people who bid or buy and always pay, but buyers like us, two inks and an order of record mailers a year, will get 'asked' every time I bid/buy.

Hi @toomuchstuffagain35

I realize I’m replying to a 2-month old thread … which somehow popped up on my phone (???) … but I wanted to clarify that we once needed to have a minimum of 10 feedbacks only to REPLY to a thread.

There was never any minimum to START a thread … so newbies could always be OPs.

[Sorry if you already know this.  🫤]

What makes you think they don't?

I see posts that are against board rules removed at all hours of the day or night. When I see one that is totally outrageous I sometimes will report it myself and in most cases it's gone in a fairly brief period of time.

I see lots of posts that are minor offences (such as personal information) these are also edited 24/7 and usually pretty fast.

Does Khorus get every one, every time, within minutes of posting? The answer would be no but do they remove or edit posts pretty quickly? Yes they do.

I've been on the eBay boards since 2001, there has never been a minimum feedback requirement on any of the publicly accessible boards.

Maybe private boards/groups had restrictions but the public ones.....never!

That was on the Answer Center forum, not the discussion boards. For a while, in the AC, you had to have 10 or more feedback in order to answer questions, but not to ask a question or to reply to your own thread.

There is no Answer Center anymore, for all intents and purposes. During the major revision in 2014, the AC was subjected to major format changes without consultation which made it unworkable. It was very useful, but  it was destroyed.
