Looking for suggestions on finding people to help list countless items.

Hi All,

Looking for some insight from the community.  I have thousands of items to sell and not even close to enough time to list them.  I work full time plus EBay on the side.   Mainly I have antiques and industrial items.  I am looking for someone in Cleveland, Ohio to help list.  Any suggestions on locating people like this that want the work.  I saw EBay valet but I find the pricing horrible, and god knows where your items go to.

Good evening. Can't help you find anyone to list your things, but would suggest you DO NOT USE ebay valet. Do a topic search and you will find major horror experiences with it. Hope you find someone to help you.

Many here are in the same boat as you...  much, much inventory to list, and simply not nearly the time needed to be spent doing that work!  And if it's done well, it definitely takes a goodly amount of time to clean and prepare items, take fabulous photos from all angles, take all the measurements from all sides, etc. etc. etc. and then.. actually make up a GOOD listing for the item, with researched price, perhaps history, and to write a good TITLE for the listing that will bring the listing up when potential buyers type in their own search words.  And more.  And more.

So, what I'm saying is, don't trust this work effort to anybody who doesn't know what the heck they're doing in making listings on eBay!  But if they do, why wouldn't they just do all that work for themselves, for stuff they already have on hand or can find to sell here?

To me, getting merchandise prepped and listed IS the work.  After that, it's mostly just shipping the sales out.

You might put ads in your local Penny Saver type weekly paper, tack ads on bulletin boards around town, run an ad in your local CraigsList, contact your local high schools to see if any type of jobs offered bulletin boards exist for kids who want to earn some money, etc.

The main problem is you need someone with knowledge on firstly how to sell on eBay. Secondly how to take expert photos. Thirdly they would need more knowledge on antiques and industrial items. The right person would be hard to find. Then upon finding them are you going to trust them with your eBay and paypal account info? You'll find that if you hire someone you will end up spending more time correcting their work. You need to ultimately know the person you are going to hire. Look at the people you know. Are their any retired folk you know or people who don't work 7 days a week? What if you get someone you know to help you part time to start? You could have someone prepare listings twice a week and schedule them to a later date so you can go in and edit what ever needs to be changed before making them active. That is one thought I would not trust a stranger they may just steal your business from you. Tread carefully here. The next point is what about hiring a photographer once a week? If they did all your photos for you would that not save you time? If you do get a friend to list for you they should live close so you can move the products that need listing temporarily to their place. You could install programs like SIXBIT or file sharing so they can draft for you without having access to your eBay account. These are just some thoughts I have been down this road before. Unless your prepared to manage your lister and watch them like a hawk you will end up having to do everything yourself. No need to buy more inventory for a while I guess. Lastly you could find another eBay seller in your area and pass them the stuff and let them list it on their eBay account they would have to have a commission base for eBay sales they make. But again you would have to trust them.
