Longtime seller - question on when to send item

Hi, I am a longtime seller that sells high end jewelry here and there. When I used to sell here, the buyer would pay and then I would send the item out. Now, I sell an item and I'm supposed to ship it out without receiving the funds directly in my account - it is paid but put on hold until an authenticator authenticates it?  How do sellers do it now? When is the money actually released to my account?

You ship when Ebay says it's ok to ship and within your handling time.

You ship when the buyer has completed checkout and sent the payment.

New and infrequent sellers are subject to payout holds, generally up to 30 days. You can access the funds to buy a shipping label on eBay.

Authentication per se has nothing to do with it. High value items are generally subject to longer holds.

Payment holds can be up to 30 days. The sooner you ship to the authenticator,  the sooner the payment will be released.

Apologies to @slippinjimmy and OP for my very slow typing, and then giving a duplicate response.

How your money is processed is such an important subject.  Is this something you did not look into before starting to sell again?

When the buyer submits payment, you get notification of it and on your Seller Hub it will show as paid and ready to ship.  You are required to ship within your stated handling time on the listing.

I know this can be hard for new or returning sellers, but it is short lived and you can get past this in the next 3 or 4 weeks.  Then  you should have things flowing more smoothly.

Ebay has had a rule for many years that pertains to New Seller and sellers that have been away from selling for 90+ days. The following is the policy that outlines why you money is likely on hold.
