Local pickup.

Concerning local pickup.
I have been messaged by a local person who wants to “try on” an item before buying.  If he pays me cash, how does ebay get their fee?

Local pickup.

Don't do it.  If you are female and it's a guy trying to meet you block him.  If he buys something and you mail it do not include your return address.   Use the post office as the return address.   In today's world this is a red flag!

Not to mention that ebay is not here to help you avoid paying fees.

Yes... a bit unsettling, but not totally over-the-top. (Although I wouldn't allow it, but I digress...)

If you do move forward with it, make sure you have Local Pickup in your listing. When the buyer purchases, they'll receive a code from eBay that you can enter to show the item was picked up and you were paid.

I believe that Local Pickup Only needs to be the ONLY option in the listing. Not 100% sure, but I recall a thread where the blues had said this.

Otherwise, with a shipping option also, I don't think you can generate a QR code without the buyer paying first and selecting LPU(if that would even open it up).

Does you listing state local pickup as an option?  Frankly, "try on" would probably get the buyer onto my BBL.  However, you could, if you're inclined to accept such a request, I would set up the meeting in the lobby of the local police station.  Of course, they may not be able to try on anything.  However, as I mentioned, I'd refuse the request and block them.

By the way, eBay takes their cut as soon as the buy button is hit so I wouldn't be concerned.  They will get theirs even if you don't get paid.

Do you really think it is a good idea for someone to come to your house a try on clothing? Think about it.

What I said above is how you do it with cash. Set it up for local pickup only, let the buyer purchase, and when they pick it up, scan/enter the QR code and it's over.

If you don't mind and feel comfortable to have him try on first and then decide, you just need to add "local pickup" as a shipping service in your business policy, so he can select local pickup and checkout on eBay. He will receive a QR code in the order confirmation email. You will scan the code using your eBay app or manually enter the number as proof of delivery.
