Hi ya'll,
I'm a fairly new seller and I am wondering about the process of local sales. I read the Ebay page on selling local, but it's not very clear on the pickup part. If I do not use the app for the code, who is printing out the order, me or the customer? They sign it, I move on...I get it kinda =D Also if I could just jot down their code and input it when I get home on the pc that would be fine too.

You either scan the QR Code from the automated email that the buyer received or the buyer provides the seller with the pickup code & the seller enters the code in the ebay app.
If you don't want to use the app, ask the buyer to sign a copy of the eBay order form at the time of pickup. I would say that the seller should print out the ebay order form.

I thought the whole point of the code system was so the seller can get delivery confirmation and verify it on the spot.
If you the sellers takes the code home and it is the wrong code (by mistake or by scam), the seller is risking an Item Not Received.
Ignore the app and code system at your own peril, IMHO.

If you're offering local pickup only, I would recommend you seriously consider using something like CraigsList instead of eBay, if you live in a large enough area for CraigsList coverage. Here in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area, there is also a local "Nickel's Worth" weekly high-coverage sales newspaper that is just as good as CraigsList. The big benefit is cash and no hassles like a cc chargeback even many months down the road after you think the sale is in the bag and completely over. This is even more important on popular and high-value items that scammers are constantly searching eBay for. I have been very successfully using the alternatives to eBay all the time for my large or even smaller higher-value items that I don't want to invite scammers to see as they scan eBay for victims.
I'm sure there are some sellers here who will say that they offer local pickup all the time on eBay with no problems. But over the last few years there has been a large increase in buyers exercising their option of opening a chargeback with their financial institution for any number of reasons. Then they often end up getting a forced refund from eBay on top of being able to keep the item essentially for free. And the seller has been hung out to dry. It's becoming much more common as buyers get wind of it... Selling an item for cash on a venue like CraigsList or local classified totally removes eBay's propensity for automatically favoring the buyer way more than the seller when they get involved in a dispute/scam.
Think about it.
Cheers, Duffy

Thanks it's just not clear and I was hoping to clear up the process, guess there aren't any other ebay sellers that don't have a phone lol.

That may be what I do, I thought having an extra option for selling would be a great idea but I have already run into some potential scammers. I don't carry a phone so can't do the app stuff.
